24.01.2022 Annabelle Hickson.... remember this name and her new publication Galah. There are many people over the years that have made Tenterfield famous for one reason or another including Sir Henry Parks, Banjo Paterson , Peter Allen and the list goes on. But as the modern era goes, Annabelle Hickson who is a well known author for some of the biggest publications in Australia, blogger telling her many stories of life on the land, and her passion for good food, design and just about ev...erything else we all love, is bringing credibility to Tenterfield like you wouldn’t believe. Her pecan farm north west of Tenterfield in the Dumaresq Valley has changed her life in many ways including inspiring her to start her new country publication called Galah! Some great reading in this domain article for more about Annabelle Hickson who will be part of this years Tenterfield Autumn Festival at Glenrock Gardens as a special guest at a gourmet luncheon! https://www.google.com.au//you-have-to-become-self-re/amp/ #annabellehickson #glenrockgardens #tenterfieldautumnfestival #tenterfieldtrue #galahmagazine #dumaresqvalley @ Tenterfield, New South Wales Credit for original post Our Tenterfield See more

22.01.2022 Joel Watts, an aspiring 21yr old Tenterfield man has identified a gap in our market that may assist many people! Joel has set up a pickup and delivery service for restaurant orders, groceries, smaller retail purchases and flowers etc, to assist those unable to get to the shops, or just too busy. Operating Monday to Friday 10am to 7pm, Joel advised he is fully insured and will travel to Jennings/Wallangarra for a fee of $15, with Tenterfield deliveries $10. Other trip costs by negotiation. Let’s get behind a local guy having a go and wish him every success. Contact for Joel is 0411629114 or email [email protected].
22.01.2022 Rural Aid announced the winners of their inaugural Spirit of the Bush photo competition, the organisation put the call out for photographers to send through their best visualisation of the Spirit of the Bush. First place was awarded to Kristin Walsh (black and white image) from the NSW Riverina town of Gerogery. So much of the strength of the bush starts with family and a generational love of the land, and we thought this shot was a striking depiction of the theme. Secon...d place was awarded to Bunderra Cattle Co with their photograph of the ubiquitous wide, flat land that is seen in so much of the Australian landscape, and a silhouette of a family in front of a spectacular sunset. Congratulations to everyone and enjoy your prizes, these images are spectacular. If you would like to donate, support or find out more about Rural Aid and what they are doing for rural communities find out more here: https://www.ruralaid.org.au/

14.01.2022 Tis the season for stone fruit! After a horrific few years, with drought and fires, here in Tenterfield and surrounds, orchards are finally bearing beautiful fruit. Just 12 Klm’s south of us is Cherrydale Orchard and Nursery, a family owned business since the 80’s and run by Paul and Jennifer. If you’ve never called in, now is the time to walk the orchard, pick a cherry from the tree, sample cherry ice cream or enjoy afternoon tea. Did I mention the apricots? Plenty of parking for travellers and open 7 days!
12.01.2022 Have to hand it to you, after years of drought, horrendous fires and now a world pandemic you still come up smiling! We are Tenterfield

08.01.2022 What a great weekend of visual entertainment coming up! On Friday 20th we have ‘The Three Tenors’ a musical doco showing at the School of Arts Cinema. Covering 17 years of incredible music, interviews etc, I won’t be missing it. Next highlight is Country Witches Association, a 2 woman cyclone of comedy and probably political incorrectness! Tickets are selling fast, another one I’m not going to miss.
07.01.2022 Have you ever visited Bonshaw? Past the old tobacco farms round Mole River the sleepy village is on the Bruxner Way, west of Tenterfield. There’s a local mixed business store selling groceries, grog, takeaways and fuel, the community hub. Step inside and go back in time, lots of bits and pieces to jog your memory! The lovely lady looking after the store on Sunday declined a photo saying the credit for the eclectic collection goes to owners Kevin and Jennifer Wilkinson. It was great to see the countryside green and lush, plenty of crops and the most livestock we’ve seen in a very long time. Beardy River was flowing well with cattle swimming one side to the other. Thoroughly recommend locals and visitors alike visit!
05.01.2022 Today well known local Tom Short lost his battle with chronic illness. Active on many committees in Tenterfield our thoughts are with Tom’s wife Robyn, children Lisa, Timothy and daughter in law Jenny.
04.01.2022 What a difference twelve months makes! This time last year our dam was very low, contaminated with ash runoff and water restrictions sitting at 4.7. Our community pool couldn’t open until a kind soul from Qld donated a tanker of water! Then we had a machinery breakdown . This long weekend marks the opening of the pool and it’s all systems go! Welcome to our beautiful town all those passing through, enjoy

02.01.2022 This is potentially the biggest thing we have heard to secure Tenterfield's Economic Future which is super exciting.... but we need your help for 1min.... Tente...rfield Shire Council is looking to diversity and revitalise its economy by creating an Adventure Tourism hub centered around the CBD and hinging off new world-class mountain bike trails. The development would represent the largest mountain bike trail destination in Australia and the Angry Bull Mountain Bike Trails (Final Name for the Trails is yet to be Determined) would feature the following: 150kms of single track and trails in a picturesque environment surrounded by National Parks, Forests and Farm Land The longest downhill track in Australia A 400m gravity track close to the town centre A pump track in the Tenterfield CBD Links back to the CBD for riders to access accommodation, meals and shopping An Adventure Tourism Hub offering other activities, such as bush walking, horse riding, rock climbing, fishing, fossicking, farm stays and cultural and heritage attractions. With the assistance of Regional Development Australia (Northern Inland NSW), Council is conducting a feasibility study into creating a mountain bike destination in the shire and is seeking input from riders to help gauge the market appeal for such a destination. To complete the online survey (takes approximately 1 minute), click here and help inform the study by sharing the survey link with your mountain biking & sporting friend contacts: www.surveymonkey.com/r/AngryBullBMTs If you have any queries regarding this survey, please contact David Thompson, Senior Project Officer, RDA - Northern Inland at [email protected]. 02.01.2022 MAYOR PETER PETTY BACK IN THE SADDLE A Ward Councillor Peter Petty was re-elected Mayor for the ninth consecutive year at yesterday’s Ordinary Council Meeting of the Tenterfield Shire Council. Mayor Petty was the only nomination received for the position. Councillor Greg Sauer was also re-elected, uncontested, for the position of Deputy Mayor, serving his third consecutive year, but fourth year as Deputy Mayor in the current Council term. ... The current Council term was extended in March 2020 by amendment to the Local Government Act as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic with the next Local Government elections due 4 September 2021. Following his re-election Mayor Petty addressed the Council, thanking them for the faith they have shown in his leadership. He expressed his sincere thanks to Councillors and staff as working together, many things have been achieved, particularly in the past, extremely difficult, 12 months. However, we need to focus for the upcoming 12 months and the many projects still to be accomplished, including completing the sealing of Mt Lindesay Road, the ongoing upgrade to Mt Lindesay Road between Legume and Woodenbong, timber bridges, beautification of our villages and the reinstatement of Bruxner Way as a State Highway. In addition, we need to get back on track with the Tenterfield Heavy Vehicle Bypass and continue our work with Water NSW to develop the Business Case for the Mole River Dam, the Mayor said. Mayor Petty referred to his position on the Local Health Committee and the continuing work of Council, and particularly Deputy Mayor Greg Sauer, in providing full support for our local health facilities and working with them to ensure the best possible services for our community. In addition, Mayor Petty spoke about the growing industry of tourism in the Tenterfield Shire, and particularly the current interest in mountain biking. Mayor Petty expressed his thanks to Deputy Mayor Greg Sauer for his ongoing support, Chief Executive Terry Dodds for his outstanding work to the benefit of all the Shire, and Executive Assistant & Media Noelene Hyde for her support during all his term as Mayor. In closing, Mayor Petty voiced his pride that Councillors and staff are moving forward together to make this a wonderful, Shire wide, community. ENDS
02.01.2022 Just been to Coles and it looks like the panic buying has started again. Wrong! Commencing Monday, Coles is undergoing a refurbishment so stock is at a minimum. Goodbye deli, goodbye staff, hello more plastic packaging. This page isn’t about me or my views, however I can’t help thinking ‘progress’ often seems like we’re taking a step backwards!

01.01.2022 TENTERFIELD SHIRE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE NSW HEALTH SARS-CoV-2 SEWAGE SURVEILLANCE RESEARCH PROJECT Tenterfield Shire Council has today signed an agreement with NSW Health to participate in their SARS-CoV-2 Sewage Surveillance Research Project for the next 4 weeks and facilitate testing of sewage at both the Tenterfield and Urbenville Sewage Treatment plants.... Given the detection of fragments of the SARS CoV-2 virus in sewage in Stanthorpe, Warwick and other parts of southern Queensland and the relatively close proximity of these towns to the Tenterfield Shire, it seemed prudent to sample for the next 4 weeks Council’s Acting Chief Executive, Mr Paul Della said. The testing can help provide early warning of COVID-19 infections in the community. These tests provide data to support NSW Health’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic and further information on the project can be obtained by visiting https://www.health.nsw.gov.au//Pa/sewage-surveillance.aspx NSW Health publish results of the testing each week and these result can be located by visiting https://www.health.nsw.gov.au//co/Pages/weeklyreports.aspx Tenterfield Shire Council will also keep the community updated on the results of the testing via Council’s website https://www.tenterfield.nsw.gov.au which will contain a link to the above test results. Mayor Peter Petty said that, Regardless of the results of the sewage testing it is important to listen to the advice of the experts and continue to practice social distancing and most importantly get tested for COVID-19 if you experience even the mildest of symptoms. https://www.health.nsw.gov.au//Pa/sewage-surveillance.aspx
