25.01.2022 NDIS FUNDING MAY BE USED WHERE THE PROGRAM MEETS WITH PARTICIPANTS GOALS Taking registrations for this amazing program, "What's The Buzz?" in Mount Barker, for Semester 1, 2021. What's The Buzz? is an evidence-based fun and interactive Social Emotional Learning (SEL) program for 5-16 year olds! The aim of ‘What’s the Buzz?’ is to teach children how to think, manage themselves, respond and how to better relate to others in social situations. It is proving itself with amazing r...esults with kids throughout the world (including our own children who have attended WTB classes both at their schools and in Adelaide!) . What’s the Buzz? is a unique sixteen lesson social skills enrichment program which uses lively stories, role plays and play based programs to encourage children to think about how to get along with others and explore the benefits of developing new social skills. In an encouraging and safe group environment, we discover everyday themes such as how to greet, make and keep friends, fit in, read one’s own emotions, read the feeling of others, deal with competition and cope with worry, frustration and disappointment more constructively all while building trust and friendship within the circle. . We also incorporate 2 unique 'Nature Based' sessions at our base at Leading Change Experiences, where the participants will be able to put their new skills to play while exploring the paddocks (with a hill that has a view over Lake Alexandrina, butterflies fluttering around and crystal scattered paddocks), doing some nature crafts or games and meeting our amazing horses. These 2 extra sessions are unique to the Adelaide Hills/Fleurieu WTB program. . We are running our 18 session program for all 3 age groups (Early Learners 5-8 years, Primary Students 8-12 years and Teenagers 13+ years) with age appropriate stories and structure at the Mount Barker Community Centre next term. We also do 2 parent information sessions throughout the time. . Our classes are limited to groups of 8 so please get in contact with us as soon as possible to register your interest and save a place for your child or teen. . NDIS Funding may be available for Self and Plan Managed Participants, where the program meets with the participants short term or long term goals. For more information please check out our FB page, or we have more details on our webpage: http://www.whatsthebuzzadelaidehills.com.au/ . Jess Keenan and Lauren Tydeman x See more

11.01.2022 Our primary group of girls loved their recent farm day. They built cubbies, played games with their wild and beautiful imaginations, enjoyed meandering the paddocks checking out all of the quartz crystal and cuddled with the horses. More photos to come!

10.01.2022 When it comes to raising confident children, we harbour responsibility in the way we communicate with our young people. Here are some simple little statements that help develop our children's confidence and simply allow them the time and space to feel validated. . When it comes to #9, to help our children develop a healthy self esteem, a great replacement for "you make me proud" is -"what actions did you take to make this happen?" - when the child or teen learns to articulate... what they did or what mindset they used to reach their desired result, they are building their own self esteem stronger and stronger each time they affirm this outloud. . This helps children and teens create an awareness around their own strengths and abilities, while recognising what tools and strategies work for them when it comes to: - making decisions - reaching goals or - taking action... rather than making choices and taking actions to please others. <3 See more

04.01.2022 We love this explanation about the "Safety Secrets Rule" from CONSENTparenting. It talks about the difference between a Secret, a Surprise and Privacy. We address and teach this idea with our Early Learners through Archie's experience and it is a really hard concept for many of our kids to grasp - the difference between a surprise and a secret and why one is a good one to keep, but the other, one that makes us feel sad, bad or uncomfortable or can hurt us or others, is one we... should always share with a trusted adult. Have a read through of the explanation here from CONSENTparenting and also check out their page. There are lots of useful tips and poster print outs to display and teach in your own homes, for parenting our kids to feel safe and in control of their decisions and bodies, especially when they feel uncomfortable which is often the hardest time to share and be assertive.
