09.01.2022 Dunsborough X Adventure 2018 Along with my Bad Moms team mates we competed in our first team adventure Triathalon. All facing our own fears and nerves we headed down to the boat ramp. Jojo was first off in the ocean swim. Battling it out in rough conditions, she finished it in great time (only 4 people behind her husband) and not a shark in sight. Jak was next and suffering from a chest infection and recovering from a rolled ankle she roughed it out, running across the roc...ky, uneven terrain and crossing the transition in an amazing time. Last was the mountain bike and I took off determined to put in the same effort as my team mates. Everything was going well until the 8.5km mark I had punctured a tyre. After trying to continue (yes I actually tried to keep going - rookie) I made my way off the trail and down the golf course. My head held low and consumed with thoughts of disappointing the team, myself and especially my little boy who was waiting at the finish line. My first fears of injuring myself were gone and replaced with the fear of not finishing... Until I came across some volunteers (my heros) they tried to replace the tube with a spare - wrong size...sh*t! Deciding that I was close to the finish line we decided to pump it up as much as we could and cross our fingers it was enough. I was escorted back to where I had left off and I flew down the hill, to the finish line where my friends and family were waiting and cheering (my very own mini Cool Runnings moment ). The time wasnt great in the end but hey there is always next year. Not bad for a couple of mums with no time to train. Thank you to the girls who entered the race with me Partying on after - Bad Mom style topped off an awesome day! See more
