25.01.2022 Report on our call to Prayer.... As I write this report I am sitting outside my room at the Mt Magnet Caravan Park with a nice breeze flowing over me and the oppressive humidity and heat of the past few days evaporated. The flight in from Cue yesterday was like a game of dodgem as I had to detour off my flight route to avoid multiple thunderstorms. Thankfully it was not till 45min after landing the town got a direct hit and received 33mm of rain in one hour. We thank the Lord... for keeping us safe in such conditions. The ride in though did provide some great photo opportunities! So how have we gone as to our call to prayer? The great news is the day before I arrived in Meekatharra, after weeks of violence which had police from all over come to reinforce the town, including the riot squad; the police were able to have a constructive meeting with those at the heart of the issues and map out a peaceful way forward. The talks I am told ended with a communal BBQ with the police. For my two days there I did not notice any problems or extra police about. Peace seems to have come to a trouble town. For this we give thanks! In the school at Meekatharra all was peaceful and all my five classes went well. I enjoyed in particular my lesson with the high school students with whom I had such a great finish to the year last year. Sadly, because of the preoccupation of the police with the Meekatharra situation, we were not able to get the pass to enter Pia Wadjarri. We did however get confirmation on Monday that we have permission to use the airstrip of a nearby station for our visits for this year. Although I did not get to visit Pia Wadjarri, I did do a flyover of both the station and community in order to do a real flight assessment of fuel quantities needed to get me from Wongan Hills to Pia and on to Meekatharra when I can refuel. This will prove helpful for future flights. So the Lord has answered our prayers and I look forward to my last two classes for the week before heading home this afternoon, having already done the Yalgoo lessons on Monday as I need to be in Perth on Friday for a specialist appointment. We give thanks to the Lord for His answer to our prayers and His continued blessing on this mission. Attached some photos of the flight in to Mt Magnet and the result of a direct hit by a thunderstorm soon after landing.

23.01.2022 Time for our week three Gospelair visits report.. Since returning early from a brief holiday, the Lord has been faithful and gracious in providing good health and energy to complete a full-on three weeks of mission. 22.01.2022 In my room at Meekatharra.. This week I am catching up Meekatharra for the week 3 lessons due to their missing out on account of the funeral last Monday in Wong...an Hills. My departure was delayed by one day due to instrument meteorological conditions with forecast high winds and thunderstorms along my route. The person who picked me up from the airport said they had a day and a half of lighting and thunder with strong winds.. so it was a good decision to stay home. Besides that I was pretty tired after a very busy ten days after returning early from holidays... not good to fly not being on top of my 'game, especially in challenging weather conditions. Today's flight was perfect sunny weather and smooth flying. I dropped into Cue on the way to do an extra lesson there as they will be at camp in week 7. Looking forward to catching up with staff and students tomorrow before heading home Thursday.

20.01.2022 GETTING READY.. Gospelair week 9 for term 2 is not far off and we are busy getting ready for Monday's takeoff Lord willing. Just received is an email from the police superintendant for the Mid West advising us that again our pass to enter the remote Aboriginal Community of Pia Wadjarri has been approved. We praise the Lord and give thanks for this. While we had this approved for our last trip we were unable to visit due to heavy rains cutting off the community by road and the... station airfield being waterlogged. We pray on Monday we may finally get to do our first visit for the year. On this trip our trainee relief teacher, Heidi Hondema, will be joining me on this week of visits for her second in the field training experience. This time Heidi will be taking two PrePrimary classes while I observe. In August the plan is for Heidi to take all classes. The weather is looking very good for flying and we look forward to a great week interacting with the students and staff. Please pray that all goes well and this last week of visits for the term proves to be a blessing to all whom we visit.

14.01.2022 It has been a very hot but very blessed week.. Yesterday (Thu 26th) we completed the third Gospelair visits for term four. The conditions were very hot with the aircraft recording outside air temperature prior to taxiing at 46c before dropping to 44c just before take off. However all the classes were fantastic with the children fully engaged and keen to practice the songs they will be singing in two weeks time at their parents and community school awards events. Below is the ...Continue reading

06.01.2022 Getting ready to go... Today we take off for our first Gospelair mission trip for our first week of school visits. So what goes into our mission aircraft for an extended one week trip into remote areas, at one point even radio communication coverage. In loading an aircraft we need to be not above maximum weight and we have to be within the envelope of centre of gravity (CoG) to keep the aircraft in balance. Failure to do this properly can lead to disaster as evidenced on Air ...Crash Investigators. These photos reveal what is going into our mission aircraft for the trip this week. Today I fly to Yalgoo (approx 1.5hrs due north) where I will stay overnight. I teach a combined class there first thing Monday morning. We are still waiting on the permit to enter the remote Aboriginal community at Pia Wadjarri (50min further north). Should that arrive by 10am Monday, we will go there to teach our very first lesson before taking off after lunch to fly to Meekatharra (1hr East) for the overnight stay there before a full day of teaching on Tuesday. 06.01.2022 A CALL TO PRAYER Gospelair is facing an uncertain week and it's not just to do with the weather forecasts for the next few days. Just got word from my contact at the remote Aboriginal community we were to start flying into this year , we still have no permit to enter. The police he needs to speak to have been called to Meekatharra. Apparently since a funeral there a couple weeks ago there has been rioting and continuing issues requiring police reinforcements from towns as far... away as here in Yalgoo. Thankfully the disturbances in the town have not been brought into the school from what I have heard. Yet it does mean it remains uncertain whether the police will have time to speak to my liaison person to organize the permit. Something to pray about. Prayer points: 1) For peace in Meekatharra and protection especially for the police called in to keep order 2) Those at the heart of the disturbances may have softened hearts, that kindness, compassion and respect may govern their hearts and minds. 3) Thanksgiving the disturbances in town not yet penetrating the school. Wisdom and restraint for students as they seek to show respect towards staff and each other. Wisdom, patience and courage to the staff as they seek to steer the students in a better direction; the staff ever remain my HEROES. 4) The lessons we teach this term about forgiveness and love for enemies leading up to Good Friday/Easter, may be used of the Lord to transform lives and bring lasting peace to the community. 5) The permit to enter the Aboriginal community may arrive in time for me to fly there and begin lessons after finishing in Yalgoo tomorrow morning. Here are some pics of today's flight, including a special photo taken after tying down IQK at Yalgoo and being taken to my accommodation for the night.
