23.01.2022 Environmentally friendly pet toys! The staff at Wheatbelt Vets Jurien love the ocean and all the creatures in it, so it’s great to be able to offer dog toys from the Clean Earth Collection that are made from 100% recycled plastic bottles. Each toy is very soft, floats and has a squeaker. Pop on down if you would like to browse our selection of Clean Earth pet toys.

23.01.2022 EQUINE DENTAL WEEK This week Hannah has the equine dental gear and her portable equine crush so she will be available during selected times for horse dentals and other services such as routine vaccinations and drenching. Equine dentistry is more than just rasping teeth, and a full oral exam with a proper gag, sedation and light source is essential in order to diagnose disease. Dental disease can lead to colic, sinusitis, ulcers and other serious diseases so it is importan...t your horse is up to date with their dental examinations (just like humans ). If you want more information on equine dentistry please have a look at the Dental Vet they have a great page and Hannah was lucky enough to do a Veterinary Equine Dentisty course with them in February this year to further her dentistry skills. Please call 9652 1973 for appointments, we will be at the Jurien Horse Club this Friday. See more

20.01.2022 Thank you to Bec from Randlab Pty Ltd for coming out on Tuesday for a great day of scoping the horses of Jurien Bay to check for gastric ulceration. Gastric ulceration is a common and painful condition of horses that can affect their performance, behaviour and wellbeing. The scope involves passing a camera from the horse’s nose into their stomach to assess the stomach wall/mucosa. All our horses were very well behaved and their owners and Hannah are glad that we can now treat their stomach ulcers so they are much happier and healthier

17.01.2022 Attention pet owners: Wheatbelt Vets Jurien are seeking expressions of interest for a Snake avoidance training to be held in Jurien Bay run by Animal Ark. They require a minimum of 15 dogs in order to make it worthwhile for them to travel to Jurien. The fees are $195 per dog, but they offer a discount of 10% for more than one dog per family. This is very reasonable considering a vial of Snake Antivenom can cost up to $1000 and some dogs need 2-5 vials to treat a snake bite! The most common reason we see snake bites in dogs is due to dogs attacking the snakes, so teaching them to avoid the snakes is the best method of prevention! Please comment below or call 9652 1973 if you would like the course or need more info.

16.01.2022 Our partner practice in Wongan Hills held a scoping day yesterday for their Equine clients provided by Randlab. This involved performing Gastroscopes on the horses (Camera into the stomach) to detect for the presence of Stomach Ulcers which can cause significant disease, discomfort and performance issues for your horse. To our surprise, every horse that was assessed on the day had the presence of gastric or pyloric ulcers, although some didn’t have clinical signs externally. We are holding a Jurien Bay gastroscope day on the 8th September at the Jurien Horse Club, with scopes performed at a discounted rate. To book or enquire on price please call 9652 1973

08.01.2022 Happy international Vet Nurse Day Our vet Hospital couldn’t run without our amazing team of Vet Nurses (and receptionists)! Their job is very important, their faces are the first your pets see when they wake up from anaesthetic, and they are the ones who reassure your pets when they are scared! They also monitor anaesthetics, manage stock, run blood tests, monitor animal’s vitals and do many other tasks that keep the clinic running smoothly. Thanks for all you do for our furry friends, your care and dedication doesn’t go unnoticed!

07.01.2022 PARVO WARNING There's a warning for dog owners in the Mid West tonight, with vets in Geraldton reporting a spike in canine parvovirus. It's an incredibly deadl...y disease that puppies are especially vulnerable to. But, it can be prevented easily, if owners take action.
