25.01.2022 PURE GENIUS!!! One of the richest and most powerful men in Brazil, Thane Chiquinho Scarpa, made waves when he announced plans to bury his million-dollar Bentley..., so he could drive around his afterlife in style. He received lots of media attention, mostly negative and was severely criticized for the extravagant gesture and wasting of a precious commodity. Why wouldnt he donate the car to charity? How out of touch with reality is this guy? He still went ahead with the ceremony. But, theres a twist. (Of course there is. Why else would I be covering this story?) Moments before lowering the car in the ground prepared for the burial of his Bentley, he declared that he wouldnt bury his car and then revealed his genuine motive for the drama: Just to create awareness for organ donation. People condemn me because I wanted to bury a million dollar Bentley, in fact most people bury something a lot more valuable than my car, Scarpa said during a speech at the ceremony. They bury hearts, livers, lungs, eyes, kidneys. This is absurd. So many people waiting for a transplant and you bury your healthy organs that could save so many lives! Worth a thought !! ARE YOU AN ORGAN DONOR??

14.01.2022 When the Corona Virus finally exhausts itself and the danger is over, lets do something good for our country, Lets spend our holidays in Australia, eat in local restaurants, buy Australian products, buy local meats and veggies and support local businesses and support our Farmers. These businesses are going to find it very difficult to get back on their feet and survive without our help. Theyre suffering badly now. Our products are some of the best in the world. Our country is one of the most beautiful. Lets look after it and its loyal people, not because of Bushfires, not because of floods, not because of viruses, but because we are Australian & look after each other.

12.01.2022 Australia Day... for me I reckon its also very much Thank you day. A day to be ever so grateful for the simple joys of living in this country & being Austra...lian. Not too many other places where a kid paralysed at 3 years old back in the 60s could live, love & adventure as I have. So thanks to my wonderful Wendy, my brothers John & David Sparks, all my pals far & wide, the Truck Brothers & of course Ned & Mary Sparks. Were all humbled this year by the super human efforts of our Rural Fire Service volunteers, our armed forces, police & all emergency services staff. Ill also give a note of thanks to our politicians at all levels, including our charismatic madame mayor Kristy McBain, my mate Andrew Constance MP & all those that take on a job few of us would tackle & endure the tirade of public life in the lens of (un)social media. As usual, Wendy & I are doing the Piestraylia Day challenge - her boring chook & leek pie vs my Bouef Bourgignon & Hot Chilli Beef pies. Well celebrate all this great country has given us & hope you have a bobby dazzler of a day too. See more

08.01.2022 A momentous change for us today. Joel has finished working for us to follow his passion in the fitness industry. A cheery, fun loving, gangly kid, assembled and test drove a pull apart scooter on the show room floor at our previous site under my instruction, the first time he worked for me. A bit over 10 years later. A cherry, fun loving, Man - capable with strength in heart & head, managed his own exit hand over professionally.... In that bit over 10 years, Joel supported the organization and me personally above & beyond what anyone would or should expect. Most times with a smile & a chuckle sometimes when the boss deserved it, it certainly was NOT a smile & a chuckle ! He has been my right hand man for years and honestly if not for him, on two occasions - when I was ill and unfit for anything for many weeks, He took over the reins, I doubt the organization would exist if he had not. I am fortunate and better off for those 10 + years with Joel. I hope his future is better than his hopes & Dreams Ken

06.01.2022 Hi everyone, as you are all aware of the horrendous summer some country towns have just experienced with the fires, We were going to do a few road trips into ar...eas to spend a bit of money. Ruchi, my daughter suggested to take it one step further, and take a bus load to a few areas. Our first one is to Lake Conjola on the weekend of 14-15 March. Ive checked out where to stay and it looks like Ulladulla which is 10 km away would be the best place for a group of 24 or so. Vic and Ross will share the driving and we are basically only just covering costs for the bus. Approximate cost would be $250.00 per couple. This covers fuel and the bus and accomodation. The plan is eat in the local cafes and restaurants and if you want to buy produce you can. If anyone is interested please let me know ASAP. The motel will probably want deposits so Ill further message as we go. See more

05.01.2022 West Australian senator Jordan Steele-John has called for a comprehensive government plan for people with disabilities WA senator Jordan Steele-John. "People are very worried about what we are seeing in countries like Italy where disabled people are basically being asked to go to the back of the line and that vulnerable people across the community are not receiving the support and information that we need. And that is something that we cannot let happen here in Australia. And... if we act urgently now, if the Government takes an integrated, coordinated response, then we can make sure that vulnerable people, people who are at risk, are supported through this crisis and that is what the Greens are calling for. "What we need to be doing is using the various datasets that exist across the country in relation to what the support needs of disabled people are, where we live, where the workforce concentrations are, and combining that together with information about the healthcare system to ensure that disability service providers are supported, that NDIS participants are supported, to maintain those critical functions. "Because the reality is that for many vulnerable communities, including disabled people, we need support day-by-day to continue to live. "Folks need to help us do our shopping or to help us move around in the night so that we dont get bedsores. There is kind of a disconnect here. We cannot completely socially distance because we need to interact with people to be able to just get by, day by day. Thats why we need a comprehensive, coordinated plan to support that workforce to continue, to support disabled people to continue to access what we need as the crisis develops."
