20.01.2022 Last month 8 year-old Pip came to her first ever real life Treehouse Bookclub. She joined us during lock down and had only ever zoomed with us. Check out her review of the newly released 'Pierre’s not There' ‘Pierre’s not There’ by children’s laureate, Ursula Dubosarksy, is a twisting, up and down adventure of Lara and Pierre. Together they explore Pierre’s beautiful antique puppet theatre. With some of his most-loved puppets he tells a very interesting (and a bit scary) ...story about a family being eaten by a most aggressive family of wolves. Pierre is lost and Lara does her best to help her new friend find his way home...while finding out some things about friendship and herself too. This story is written for children 8 to 12 years old. It’s different to other stories I’ve read because it is like a script, where it has lines of what people in a play would look at to know their lines and how they have to say it. I think people who enjoy stories with magic happening in the real world will love this. I also love that this is a book for everyone. You can’t tell whether it has been written for boys or girls (how all books should be!) and the two main characters are a boy and a girl. I couldn’t put it down and highly recommend it. Hope you like it! #pierresnotthere #ursuladubosarsky #australianchildrenslaureate See more

15.01.2022 LAUNCH TONIGHT Join Cass Moriarty Author in-conversation with Anna Whately for the launch of Peta Lyre's Rating Normal At sixteen, neurodivergent Peta Lyre is the success story of social training. That is, until she finds herself on a school ski trip - and falling in love with the new girl. Peta will need to decide which rules to keep, and which rules to break... 'I'm Peta Lyre,' I mumble. Look people in the eye if you can, at least when you greet them. I try, but it's hard when she is smiling so big, and leaning in. Peta Lyre is far from typical. The world she lives in isn't designed for the way her mind works, but when she follows her therapist's rules for 'normal' behaviour, she can almost fit in without attracting attention. When a new girl, Sam, starts at school, Peta's carefully structured routines start to crack. But on the school ski trip, with romance blooming and a newfound confidence, she starts to wonder if maybe she can have a normal life after all. When things fall apart, Peta must decide whether all the old rules still matter. Does she want a life less ordinary, or should she keep her rating normal? A moving and joyful own voices debut. 'Honest, perceptive and gutsy; I loved tuning into Peta's world.' Emily Gale
