Lets all show our care for those around us The children at Mt Barker created beautiful artworks for the theme of the day and our pre-kindy room learnt about emotions and used yellow clay to express these feelings

24.01.2022 Ciao! Our Prospect preschoolers are learning Italian. This week they have been learning their colours. The children threw bean bags into coloured buckets and called out the colour in Italian. They have also learnt to count, add and subtract numbers in Italian. Molto intelligente!

23.01.2022 Strathalbyn Pre-kindy and Preschool rooms have been learning about the colour red in their school readiness program. Not only are children learning their colours but they learn so much more without even realising. Through play based learning children develop dispositions for learning. They enhance fine motor skills which are perfect pre-writing activities to build those muscles ready for school based learning. They learn to concentrate and they are able to explore everyday materials and what they mean and what they represent for them as individuals.

21.01.2022 Our newest centre Strathalbyn is open and doing lots of fun things! Recently they celebrated Daffodil day! The children had fun creating daffodil art, cupcake decorating and learning about Daffodil Day!

18.01.2022 STAFF SPOTLIGHT: Meet our Mt Barker Centre Manager, Mikaela! TELL US ABOUT YOUR CAREER BACKGROUND: I commenced my career in childcare in 2015. I started in a casual work placement position and then moved to full time role and Team Leader. After moving to the area of Nairne, I worked as a Team Leader and then promoted to 2IC. After having two beautiful children, I wanted a role closer to home and was excited to be appointed the Centre Manager of Where We Grow Mt Barker. ... WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT YOUR ROLE? I love getting to know all of the beautiful families that attend Mt Barker Where We Grow. All of the families have been extremely welcoming whilst I have been settling in to my new role. I also enjoy watching the children grow and learn every day and seeing their wonderful smiles as they play. WHAT MAKES WHERE WE GROW MT BARKER SPECIAL? Where We Grow Mt Barker is special for two main reasons, the wonderful staff that works together as a team encouraging the children to grow and the beautiful connections they have with each child and their families. The other reason being the wonderful families; they all are beautiful and caring towards to their children, other children, the staff and other families. I truly feel blessed to be apart of such a beautiful centre.

18.01.2022 Staff Spotlight: Meet our amazing Strathalbyn Centre Manager, Sam! Tell us about you and your background: I have been part of the Early Childhood Sector since 2015. I am very proud to now be Centre Manager of Where We Grow Strathalbyn. I love what I do and aim to make Where We Go Strathalbyn a home away from home for every child who walks through our doors. ... What makes Strathalbyn special: I feel that Strathalbyn and the centre are special because we have the small town feel but with amazing opportunities right at our finger tips. What do you love about your role/looking forward to? In my role as Centre Manager, it is my goal to make every child feel like they are apart of our Where We Grow family. It is my aim that myself, the staff, children and families can all grow together.

17.01.2022 Diwali at our Strathalbyn & Prospect centres ! Lots of colourful activities and Strathalbyn even made their own paint fireworks using different techniques and materials.

17.01.2022 Dinosaur eggs at Angle Vale! The children loved seeing the ice melt to reveal the dinosaurs! A fun sensory activity!

17.01.2022 At Prospect, our Pre-Kindy room participated in a fireworks experiment for Science Week. They added detergent to the milk and then observed the reaction! So pretty!

16.01.2022 BOOK WEEK at Virginia! Our educators decorated the centre with each room as a different Roald Dahl book. How amazing is it?!!

15.01.2022 Staff Spotlight: Meet the wonderful Kathleen - our Early Childhood Teacher (ECT) at Virginia! Did you know that our centres all run a School Readiness/Kindy program in the pre-school room? Kathy runs our school readiness program and provides more information below about the learning goals and why school readiness is important! ... TELL US ABOUT YOUR CAREER BACKGROUND: I started working in childcare 24 years ago as a qualified team leader. I have been a ECT for the last 7 years. WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT YOUR ROLE? I love watching the children learn new information and see them grow while having fun! WHAT MAKES WWG VIRGINIA SPECIAL? The families and educators are supportive which makes the children develop closer relationships with the educators. SCHOOL READINESS PROGRAM: The learning goals of the program is to prepare each child to succeed in school socially, emotionally and cognitively. WHY IS IT IMPORTANT? It makes the transition to school more successful for children and gives them a head start in their learning journey. This allows the child to be more confident about themselves, their work and achievements.

14.01.2022 Virginias coolest construction crew! Last week it was construction day at the centre. The children and staff came dressed in their tradie gear and had lots of fun doing construction based activities. A fun day to extend on the childrens interests

05.01.2022 Our centres supported @jeansforgenesau Jeans for Genes day! Our staff and children all came wearing denim and to raise much needed funding for childrens genetic diseases. Our Virginia centre decorated their own jeans

04.01.2022 RED NOSE DAY Today all of our centres got silly for a serious cause. Red Nose Day helps save little lives and provides support to grief-stricken families. We had lots of activities including discos, painting a train red at Strathalbyn, arts and crafts and having lots of fun @rednoseaustralia #rednoseday2020
