23.01.2022 Happy Imamat Day to our Nazari Ismaili Shi’i Muslim community. It marks the anniversary of the day that their present (Hazar) Imam. Aga Khan IV succeeded his predecessor to become the Imam of the Time. The Aga Khan IV is the 49th Imam of the Ismailis, having succeeded his grandfather, the Aga Khan III on July 11, 1957.[His Imamat Day is therefore observed annually on July 11.... The recognition of the Imam of the Time is central to Ismailis' faith and belief. Imamat Day provides occasion to reinforce this and to express gratitude to the Imam who, in keeping with the centuries-old tradition of leadership, provides guidance in matters of faith, and works to improve the quality and security of their lives. It is a day to reaffirm their spiritual allegiance to the Imam and renew their commitment to the ethics of their faith.

15.01.2022 Fo Guang Shan Er You Temple in Box Hill has been home to the Buddhist Community in Whitehorse for the past 18 years. Recently on 30 April, they celebrated Buddh...a’s Birthday, a recognition of the birth of Shakyamuni Buddha, the founder of Buddhism. Due to social distancing restrictions surrounding coronavirus, celebrations occurred online this year, with Buddhists tuning in to a live broadcast of Buddha’s Birthday service on Youtube and devotees participated in the service virtually. From their homes, Buddhists prepared a sweet tea from fragrant herbs and spices and bathed statues of Buddha in celebration and to remind fellow devotees of the importance of having a pure and focused mind. Just another great example of how our community are adapting and staying connected during this time. #WhitehorseStrongerTogether
