24.01.2022 "A smashing Chardonnay to match a top premier or even grand cru Burgundy. Huon Hooke, The Real Review This is old world-style Aussie Chardonnay at its best. The Oakridge 864 range yields only small batches from specific and single blocks, released in only the best years. A Yarra Valley Gem ... Pale lemon straw hues. Pronounced aromas rich in complexity; clean floral notes, citrus, white peaches, flint and spice. Concentrated, well contained and voluptuous. Flavours that build to a crescendo on the palate, finely balanced by fresh acidity. Absolutely enjoyable now but very cellar worthy too. Not a surprise at the awards and high ratings here: 2020 Langtons Yarra Valley Wine Show GOLD MEDAL 2021 "Best of the Best" Wine Companion Awards - 97 Points Halliday Available at whiskywinesake.com Surry Hills & Enmore Fine Wines Coogee Bay Cellars . . . . . @oakridgewines @scarletandglass @winecompanion @gtwinemag #yarravalley #yarravalleychardonnay #chardonnay #whitewine #winetasting #winereview #australianwine #aussiewine #winestagram #wineoclock #chardy #singlevineyard #surryhills #coogee #enmore #newtown

19.01.2022 A pilsner that's brewed with real watermelon! Say what?! The Serpent's kiss has got abit of a cult following As we sat there lugging down this number, we all agreed - The decal of the serpent wrapping itself around a luscious slice of watermelon hits the nail on the head when it comes to the flavour profile. Crisp & lightly carbonated, the watermelon flavours dance on the palate & nose, coiling up & around. ... The Serpent’s Kiss was a mega hit when it first came out in 2015 as a collab with Frankie’s Pizza for Sydney Craft Beer Week. It was produced again the following year due to its popularity before finally being added to Grifter's regular line up due to popular demand. . 13.01.2022 @akashabrew craft beers are made locally in Five Dock, Sydney. Have you tried the Canada Bay? We'd love to hear your review! Here's our take on the others: A classic, refreshing Summer beer when we're longing for that thirst- quenching shower on our palate. 'Freshwater Pale Ale' delivers a bright fruity punch with a sweet, floral malt backbone. It guarantees the end of a sip "ahh!" factor. ... An easy-drink IPA, the 'Hopsmith IPA' is smooth & subtle. Traffic light amber, it balances refreshing notes of citrus & pine with an earthy backbone of malt & honey bitterness. A West Coast-style India Pale Ale that's lovingly made using Amarillo, Simcoe and Centennial hops. Packing abit more oomph than the Hopsmith is the 'Mosaic IPA'. Boasting a fruity tanginess of melon and stonefruit. Aromatic with a lean malt profile it finishes with a moderate bitterness that delivers satisfaction. . . . . . #ipa #craftbeer #localbeers #sydneybeer #sydneybrewery #sydneycraftbeer #aussiecraftbeer #paleale #craftbeerreview #beerreview #brew #beer #whiskywinesake #scarletandglass #supportsydneylocal #shopsydneylocal #shoplocal #beerreviews #beeroclock

12.01.2022 Wine from the second highest vineyard in the world?! Originally regarded as the highest vineyard in the World, but now only coming second after another in Tibet. The Colomé Vineyard is located in the upper Calchaquí Valley. This wine is produced from a blend of four high elevation vineyards, the highest of which sits at 10,207 feet. It's a smashing expression of Argentinian Malbec. ... What makes this region so special? The super high altitudes mean less UV protection and more sun exposure. This results in thicker-skinned fruit which translates robust flavours, balanced with bright acidity. Deep ruby with purple hues. Pronounced on the nose with aromas of blackberries, red fruit and fragrant wood. Full bodied, ripe, rich black fruits laced with dark chocolate & spiced oak. Lengthy on the palate with grainy, bold tannins & a bright acidity. . . . . . @bodegacolome @scarletandglass #whiskywinesake #winetasting #winereview #malbec #argentina #wine #redwine #winelover #wineoclock #coolclimatewines #highaltitudewines #wineo #southamericanwines #surryhills #enmore #coogee #sydney #darlingsquare #jedwines
