19.01.2022 Today was cria shearing day at Whispering Gums, first lot for the season. Run them into the pens and they all behaved perfectly. Very happy with the drop so far, some real standouts and a few surprises. Thrilled with the first cria drop from our stud boy Merrijig Trademark. Baby look gorgeous and a pretty good job if I do say so myself.

15.01.2022 Thanks Lynda and the VER team for a great Berwick show to open the show season. Great to catch up with everyone. Very happy with our show teams results. 7 animals 2 x 1st, 1 x 2nd and 3 x 3rd.

14.01.2022 It’s important to have a good yard set up for handling and moving your alpacas that works for both you and your alpacas. Once they are familiar with the routine and the surroundings, stress levels drop and it becomes a more relaxing and enjoyable time for everyone one. Sometimes help is not always on hand so having a system that works for 1 person can be a huge advantage. Today was girls day at Whispering Gums. 3 different groups of girls where I completed on my own 16 positive ultrasounds, 18 spits, 7 re-matings, 3 cria weaned, then separated into 4 groups and run to there respective paddocks on our 140 acres. If your not sure about pen and laneway set up talk to as many breeders as you can to work out what system will work best for you. Happy alpacas = happy humans.

01.01.2022 Just did a re-matings of Fortune Favors to our rose grey girl Leonita. Hoping to reproduce the stunning cria she had a few weeks back Whispering Gums Statesman. A rose grey boy and is looking fantastic, however turns out I can’t hold a camera, hold a cria and part fleece at the same time, mmmm, something I need to work on or maybe get some help next time
