25.01.2022 THUNDERSTORMS & DOGS What better time to talk about thunderstorms and dogs than now? When we are currently in the middle of one, with no power. Are your dogs like mine? Absolutely terrified of storms? What do you do to help them cope? Me? I normally put Pepsi and Noisy in their kennels where I know that they cant jump the fence and run away (which P has done once before) and they know that it is their safe place. ... Tonight though I have all three dogs on bed. Pepsi is surprisingly calm. She normally pants and shivers and goes and finds a dark hiding hole. Noisy isnt so happy. Shes restless, panting and on high alert. What am I doing? Im sitting here typing this up, completely ignoring the storm. The only time I talk and pat the dogs is when there is no thunder, so that they dont associate my rewarding them with the noise. And when I do talk to them I am quiet and calm. Nothing unusual going on here. All dogs are now calmer. Even Noisy is dozing off. Im just going to sit here in the dark and hope that the power comes back on soon and that this crazy weather has stopped by the time Im ready to go and put the dogs to bed. #dogsandstorms #gippslanddogtrainer #dogtrainingtips

24.01.2022 This mornings early location scouting turned out well I think. I was a little disappointed by the lack of colour in the sky. Especially where I wanted it. But I made do. We got a little bit in behind the bush. I’m not the type of photographer who will add a fake sky to a photo when I didn’t get the kind I wanted. I will, however, edit the photo in a way that alters the colours of the whole photo to make it look more appealing and arty. But generally, I like you to see exact...ly what I see. 15.01.2022 WILDLIFE PHOTOGRAPHY TIP # 1 Dont take your dogs with you. Especially when those dogs love nothing more than chasing birds. Theres only so many times you can keep telling your dogs to come behind before it gets old on us all. TIP # 2 Where mosquito repellent! ... Ive just been out attempting to take some shots of the yellow tailed black cockatoos that have come down from the mountains during this crazy weather. Needless to say I dont think it was very successful.
