24.01.2022 Whitebridge High students team up with Charlie’s Run 4 Kids to raise funds for Jacob Cooper. WHITEBRIDGE High students have worn their hearts on their sleeves and their shirts, faces and hair as part of a colourful event to raise funds for a peer fighting leukemia. More than 650 students each paid $5 to be doused in pink during a five kilometre fun run on Friday, which was organised to raise money for year nine cancer patient Jacob Cooper, 15.... Jacob’s friend since kindergarten, Jesse Conrick, said his mate would be overwhelmed with the show of support. He’d love it, Jesse said. He’s being brave, he’s a soldier. He’s going to Sydney soon to get a bone marrow transplant. Source: Newcastle Herald http://www.theherald.com.au//thinking-pink-for-a-classmat/

20.01.2022 Congratulations to Isaiah Melia (WHS) for winning the Boy's Title at the CHS NSW State Golf championships held at Tamworth Golf Club last week. The Hunter team of Clayton Small and Will Fraser from Maitland Grossman, Isaiah Melia from Whitebridge High, and Reid Brown from Wingham High held out their metropolitan based opponents on a thrilling final day of the 3-round tournament to win by the barest of margins, 668 to 670. The best three scores from the four players each day made up the team score.

03.01.2022 Lake Macquarie sailors Tom Crockett (WHS) and Harry Morton win world 29er title. REDHEAD sailor Tom Crockett was flying home from the Netherlands on Monday as a world champion already planning his title defence. The 14-year-old and Belmont’s Harry Morton, 19, won the 29er world championship at Medemblik on the weekend.... While Morton was a world champion in the class in 2010, the event was a maiden overseas regatta for Crockett. The year 9 Whitebridge High School student skippered the boat to victory with a 13th in the penultimate race of the championships. Morton and Crockett won qualifying then three of the 10 gold fleet races to set up the victory. The Lake Macquarie crew also had two fifths, a second and a third. 03.01.2022 Olympians inspire NSW Pierre de Coubertin recipients. EDUCATION: 90 outstanding secondary students from New South Wales have been presented with the Pierre de Coubertin award, after displaying the Olympic ideals of fair play and sportsmanship. The annual award recognises Year 11 and 12 students who are active participants in sport and demonstrate the ideals of the Olympic movement in their work.... Each school can nominate one student, with 90 schools from across the state represented. For Whitebridge High School student Katherine Tennant, it was exciting to hear four different journeys to the Olympics, from both winter and summer athletes. The Year 12 student won the award for her work coaching and competing in the Olympic sport of trampoline. Steph’s [Magiros] story was particularly inspiring for me because she began snowboarder later, at 17 years-old, Whitebridge said. Tennant has met dual Olympic trampoline competitor Blake Gaudry at several competitions and aspires to one day be Australia’s first Olympic female trampoline competitor. I have met Blake and heard his story, but every time you hear another athlete’s experience at the Olympics it makes you want to push harder in your sport. Today’s talk has really made me want to keep training and win a national title next year. Source: Australian Olympic Education
