23.01.2022 Whilst checking out the Cottage today I noticed this great use of old horse shoes to make the hinges on the barn door. Also noted the handmade nails. Hopefully the Complex will be able to re-open soon. The wisteria has finished blooming however this tree near the gate was in full bloom.
23.01.2022 With the re-opening of Schwerkolt Cottage on Saturday 21 November we would like to thank Whitehorse City Council for the newly refurbished signs around the cottage and outbuildings. Our wonderful volunteers spent Wednesday morning making sure the Cottage is ready for the re-opening.
15.01.2022 Make sure you take a minute to remember those who gave so much at 11am on Wednesday 11th November 2020
10.01.2022 Today was the scheduled day for our 2020 Heritage Family Day so here is a quick look back at our 2019 Heritage Family Day which was the most successful ever with over 1400 people attending. We look forward to 2021 when we can welcome everyone again for a fabulous family day.
07.01.2022 Very excited to be able to return to the Local History Room again on Wednesday after an absence of over 4 months. Unfortunately we will not be able to welcome visitors as we have a cap of 10 people which does not cover all of our volunteers. We will now be able to provide more detailed research information as we will have access to all of our resources. Queries can be forwarded via email ( [email protected]) or Facebook. Council will be advising the re-opening of the Museum and Cottage in the near future.
05.01.2022 Thank you to all joined us on our Zoom journey for our AGM this afternoon. It was great to see everyone again.
04.01.2022 Check out this new virtual exhibition about local building supply company Wunderlich Industries.
04.01.2022 After 3 months absence we were able to return to the Museum to check out the state of the Collection and Schwerkolt Cottage. All of the insect traps were checked and, although some of the traps were overflowing with insects we only discovered 2 silverfish and one moth which are a threat to the Collection. Thankfully there has been no water or other damage and Whitehorse Council has done a great job of maintain the gardens and lawns. The wisteria is in bloom and is a great attraction to the folks exercising in the grounds.
