16.01.2022 We are so proud of the work that each and every one of our people does, and the impact they have on the families we support. Each of them come from a different background and bring different experiences to their role in supporting families every day. Today we are proud to share Julies story:

15.01.2022 Meet Anna McLeod, Funeral Arranger/Conductor at Niddrie What does your role as a White Lady involve? Dealing with families regarding all aspects of funerals, from the first call through to the follow up support. Liaising with suppliers ie cemeteries, celebrants, florists and newspapers. Bringing a special personalised service to fruition for each family, no matter how large or small. Anticipating the varied responses to grief and working through the stages that each family... will experience differently. What inspired you to start working in the Funeral Industry? White Lady led my brother in laws funeral in the late 90s and they made such an impression as compassionate guides and had an air of calm confidence. I drove past White Lady Heidelberg for many years thinking if I was no longer nursing I would be a White Lady. After I had children and was returning to the workforce 10 years later, it seemed like a perfect career change and choice. Your most memorable moment at work? Being asked to arrange the funeral of a friend of 15 years. I had not been working as a funeral director for very long and felt such a weight of responsibility, but the process actually showed me how privileged we are to be involved in the intimate details of peoples lives. I also felt that she would have been so grateful to have someone she knew to take care of her and her family. What is a common question you get asked in your day to day role? How on earth do you do this job without crying all the time? I answer that the grief is not mine, it belongs to the family. I am there for different reasons, to make sure their one chance for a farewell is smooth and to ensure that they are able to gentlly lay their loved one to rest. What do you love most about your job? I love being able to guide families through an important step in their grieving process. It is satisfying to make a connection with people and help bring them through the difficult first weeks without their loved one.

01.01.2022 Today, we're pleased to introduce Rachel Barry, an Arranger/Conductor at our Dandenong location: What does your role as a White Lady involve? Assisting families navigate through the difficult task of arranging their loved ones funeral. Co-ordinating the familys requests and bringing everything together to ensure they have everything they need to farewell their loved one in the most appropriate and significant way for them.... Working closely with the White Lady team to ensuring all funeral needs are taken care of so the family can be free to do what they need to do during their time of grief. What inspired you to start working in the Funeral Industry? It's something I thought about for a very long time. I couldnt imagine a greater honour than looking after a family during their time of grief and assisting them with the final arrangements for their loved one. My background is in roles which required lots of compassion and empathy and I am a born organiser, so the funeral industry just made sense. There is really no room for ego in this role. It is all about the family and their loved one, and that really appealed to me. Your most memorable moment at work? Being new to the industry, I dont have a one moment yet, but the one thing that stands out to me every day is the incredible support and encouragement White Ladies show each other. I am very blessed to be working amongst such an amazing group of women! What is a common question you get asked in your day to day role? Families always ask if they can touch and/or kiss their loved ones. What do you love most about your job? Apart from the amazing group of women I get to work with, I love knowing I have helped make a families worse time a little easier. Its really that simple!

01.01.2022 Our team in Dandenong have been pleased to provide live entertainment to aged care homes during lock-down... http://ow.ly/WpVv50B59ce
