24.01.2022 Hello WRSS community, My name is Pete Blake or Chappy Pete. For the next 10 weeks, I have the awesome privilege of providing some programs and special activities at WRSS as a school-based chaplain. The days I am here each week are Tuesdays and Fridays. A chaplain provides social, emotional and spiritual support for students and staff. This is a federally funded initiative.... It is an absolute honour to serve this school community. Some students will get to learn the art of making animal balloons and everyone will be given the opportunity to solve my riddles (there will be prizes for the winners). Parents, if you would enjoy catching up for a cuppa and a chat, it’s a standing invitationand it’s my shout! It’s my pleasure to serve the students, staff and the school community at WRSS. Our family of six moved up from Ingham to Cairns at the start of this year. We love this beautiful region and everyone has been so welcoming. Here’s a pic of our family and our two guinea pigs (Snowy and Goldie).

24.01.2022 What a fantastic NAIDOC parade. Guyala and Abal Kerem Kebi Werem dancers blowing the roof off the WRSS hall with an amazing performance celebrating NAIDOC 2020. Our beautiful songbird teachers taking our breath away and Buri Guman-Naamu Karrkay Duo of our own mother and daughter team, Merindi and Felicity, delighting our senses with their soulful tunes. WRRS student had the pleasure of listening and learning stories from Mr. Reys (Traditional Owner), about White Rock and the Purpose of a Yarning Circle.

24.01.2022 3VT have been getting hands on in Maths while learning about place value and addition as part-part-whole. Great work Mrs Vaughan & Miss Tansey!

23.01.2022 How are the holidays going? Are they bored yet? We are looking forward to seeing all students return safely to school for Term 4 on October 6.

23.01.2022 The final of our Showcase Performances was delivered today. Our two Year 6 classes learnt a variety of parts to create an ensemble of Ukulele, djembe and voice to perform the song 'Best Day Of My Life' by American Authors. This involved learning musical skills such as rhythm, pitch, dynamics and working together to stay in time. Congratulations to Alisha on her Shining Star award and to all of our senior students for a fantastic performance!

19.01.2022 All Weather Inclusive Access for White Rock SS: Earlier this year I applied for over $100 000 of funds to provide covered inclusive access to our school. 17.01.2022 The final of our Showcase Performances was delivered today. Year 5 and 5/6JG students have worked together in groups to choreograph a short dance in response to a symmetry stimulus picture. This involved choosing a theme, lighting and costumes. Congratulations to all students who performed. There were some amazing and creative dance routines on show! Our Shining Star was Jeremy and Most Improved went to Kaden. Very well deserved boys.

07.01.2022 A huge thank you to Bentley Park College for running a hugely successful Year 5 HPE Excellence Day. All our students had a great time learning different sports and experiencing what life in high school will be like.
