18.01.2022 With distressing content circulating, it’s a good reminder that there are steps we can take to stay safe online. You can help young children stay safe online by...: Being with, and watching with, your child when they use devices, so you can supervise content and apps. Taking the time to play and be with your child, they may ask questions and share their worries. Limiting news coverage, and being aware of the conversations you have with other adults. Children tune in to body language and tone of voice. For more information, read the eSafety Commissioner’s guide > https://www.esafety.gov.au//skills-ad/online-safety-basics and the following tips for parents from Early Childhood Australia http://thespoke.earlychildhoodaustralia.org.au/tips-parent/ If your child has inadvertently seen something and/or you have any concerns, please reach out for support from: Kids Helpline - 1800 55 1800 - phone support is there all day, every day. Online support is open from 8am-midnight every day (AEST). Lifeline - 13 11 14 - phone support all day, every day. Online support 7pm-4am daily (AEST). Beyondblue - 1300 22 4636 - phone support all day, every day. Online support 3pm-midnight every day.

14.01.2022 Kindy countdown is on! Are you getting ready? Lunchboxes are always a hot topic for parents, so we've teamed up with Abbey, University qualified nutritionis...t and Mum of two, from The Lunchbox Nutritionist to share her tips, tricks and inspiration for simple, nutritious lunchboxes that will be eaten. To start with, have a look at Abbey's lunchbox checklist and breakdown on the five food groups. Including these foods and checking the list is a good way to prep for their first day! Visit her Facebook and Instagram for helpful videos and photos of lunchbox ideas and lunchbox comparisons. #TheLunchBoxNutritionist #KindyLunch #HealthyLunchboxes #LoveCandK
12.01.2022 Today is the first day of NAIDOC week a week to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. 09.01.2022 It is only natural that in times of #stress, we seek #togetherness. This is how we are wired. But in this case, togetherness at least in the form of ‘being wi...th’ is what threatens us, thus creating a perfect emotional storm. No wonder we feel so rattled and unsettled. We are meant to come together in order to take care of each other and our loved ones. Now we are asked to keep our #distance to keep each other safe. As imperative as it is in these times, it goes against the grain of our instincts and that of our #children. No matter how scared we are and how little we know about what is happening or going to happen, we are still our child’s answer including their bubble of safety in an alarming world. Remember as well, that children at #play are insulated from the alarming world around them. Play is a sanctuary of safety. Play is also the original #school, far more effective than anything society could possibly invent. Rather than try to make the home a school, it would be much more important in these times to make the home a true playground where #Nature can take care of all of us. In true play, the engagement is in the activity, not the outcome. Thwarted togetherness is the fountainhead of our frustration, so don’t be surprised if you find more attacking energy lurking just under the surface of your interaction. In the interests of taking care of our children, we need to find safe emotional playgrounds for our frustration. We also need to make regular play-dates with our #sadness as this is probably the only way to keep truly civil in these times. If you are a #painter, you will need to paint. If you are a #writer, you will need to write. If you gravitate to #music as an emotional playground, remember you will need it more than ever at this time. Neglecting to grieve the unfolding tragedy, including uncertainty and mortality, will only set the stage for more wounding. We owe it to our loved ones to remain soft and gentle during this time. 01.01.2022 How can Term 4 be here! We have had lots of fun setting up the room incorporating the kids ideas and following their interests. Starting big school is a big deal! Our dramatic play space has turned into a ‘Prep’ class. Play can help children deal with things they can’t always put into words. Tension, anxiety, excitement can be acted out in play....can’t wait to see how they use the space.
