25.01.2022 This week in the 0-2 room! (5/12/16 - 9/12/16) It has been a quiet lead up to the end of the year in the 0-2 room. It hasnt stopped us though from making and creating Christmas art with the children! Cute little baskets of gifts were made up with the children who attend with regular bookings to take home . As well as the gift baskets the most important tradition of all was carried out too, DECORATING THE CHRISTMAS TREE!!!. ... Gladys and I are looking forward to the Christmas party tomorrow also, hope to see you there!

25.01.2022 VALENTINES DAY GIFTS FOR LOVED ONES How sweet are these candle holders the children in the 0-2 room made for their loved ones . The children took turns over the course of Monday and Tuesday to hold onto the sponge roller and roll onto the jar. Glitter was sprinkled over the top along side a cute little pun Valentines message attached with a ribbon. The families were very thankful to receive their special gift and to be reminded that "Thumb-body loves them" .

24.01.2022 Happy International Womens Day!

22.01.2022 GARDEN UPDATEWe recently replanted our fruit & veggie garden. We have Corn on the cob, Onions, Capsicum, Kale, Carrots, Blueberrys, Passionfruits, tomatoes and so much more growing nicely! We cannot wait to harvest our crops and create our very own farmers market where you can purchase our fruits and veggies!!

21.01.2022 Check out our 2018 pre kindy program! Spots still available every day in our kindy room so if you would like to enrol please call 0893074977 or email [email protected] for more information :)

21.01.2022 One of the most encouraged aspects of working for a community based centre is the community involvement. These beautiful cosy blankets were knitted by my mum and donated to the centre for the children to nestle into at sleep time. Thanks mum, I know the children at daycare will love them just as much as I did growing up . - Courtney

21.01.2022 Hi Everyone! Please send any emails through to [email protected] Thank you!

21.01.2022 This week in the 0-2 room! (14/11/16 - 18/11/16) Check out these handy little green thumbs ! What a pleasure it was to have so many little hands to help care for the garden that we play in. Each child contributed by either watering the plants with water in a watering can, or they assisted Gladys and I in planting beans into the soil. One of the families whose child attends the centre, very generously gifted Gladys and I a small bean plant each! It was lovely to have assistance from the other children and we cant wait to see how these small plants bloom!

20.01.2022 We are on to our fourth week back at the centre after the Christmas and new year break and I must say, we have been pretty active so far! The 2017 Events calendar is in full swing and we have started our daycare year with some enjoyable and educational practices. Outdoor pool day was achieved with holes dug into the sandpit, layered with a tarp and then filled with water. Penguin awareness day had the children learning about their habitat and involving themselves in arts. Th...e big red BBQ for kidney health brought role play and full tummies where the children could actively "purchase" their hot dogs, and this week coming we have Chinese New Year! A week of celebrating another countries culture through arts, learning and experiences with staff . Please comment below any learning activity suggestions. Thanks - Courtney

20.01.2022 This week in the 0-2 room (14/11/16 - 18/11/16) 5 Cheeky Monkeys is STILL a well loved experience here in our room . This morning I implemented a mat session with 3 children where I performed a puppet show using a crocodile and monkey resources. This particular experience was beneficial to the childrens development as it is based around child led and child initiated learning. It also allows them to develop awareness of personal space in a sitting situation to prepare them for mat times for when they move into the 2-5 room. This allowing for a smoother transition , well done everyone!

19.01.2022 Check out some of the artwork done by the children in the 0-2 room! The art experiences that take place have meaningful and educational purposes behind them. Some of the parents have verbalised to me theyre looking forward to taking their childs paintings home and thats great feedback for me to hear! Click on each image to see the purpose behind it :)

19.01.2022 This week in the 0-2 room! (24/10/16 - 28/10/16) What I have planned for the 0-2 room this week is numbers, colours and letters! The input for these future learning areas was suggested from one of the mums whose child attends in the room . So, I took it upon myself to set up the 0-2 room with educational areas which include the current learning topics. These resources along with outside included experiences are in place to encourage number recognition, effective verbal and n...on verbal communication and identifying how symbols and pattern systems work. All of which ties in with the Early Years Learning Framework which our centre follows and identifies in everyday practices. Come back to this post to find out what experiences the children engage and learn in

18.01.2022 BUBBLE WRAP STOMP -by Natalie We are always creating different fun and interesting ways to incorporate letters and numbers into our play and learning. ... Today the children were exploring our light table letters and numbers and so we decided to turn this into an art activity. We stuck these down onto paper and then wrapped bubble wrap around our feet. We covered their feet in paint and then called out a number or a letter to which they would have to find it on the paper and stomp on it. The children had a blast doing this! After this, once the paint had dried we could peel off the letters and numbers leaving a lovely piece of art for us to display in the room. A very fun and creative activity that encourages number and letter recognition :D

18.01.2022 Pintrest is to thank for this arty experience! After researching exciting and various art experiences to achieve with toddlers, there was no way I could skip pass this one! Crayons were glued to the canvas that we were reusing from last years art (as a posed to opening a new canvas), I provided a hair dryer from home and the children and I were good to go! Caution was taken as the hair dryer increased in heat but safety was key and some little hands were kept out of harms w...ay to assist in melting the crayons. As time passed by the children and educators watched the colours melt down the canvas. Now it is on display in the 0-2 room, yahoo! Because we used a canvas from last year that already had a print, we maintained a sustainable practice of reuse and reduce showing respect for the environment (EYLF Outcome: 2.4), and also having the children assist in holding the hair dryer to melt the crayons gives the children a sense of belonging to a group as they obtain a responsibility to carry out in the experience (EYLF Outcome: 2.1). 18.01.2022 BUDDING ARCHEOLOGISTS - From Sonia Today the children were very eager to get started on our archeologists dig, they talked about what they would find. Looking through the dinosaurs and foliage they discovered eggs: "Dinosaur eggs" using a dropper and water they were enthusiastic to hatch the eggs. Developing the childrens curiosity and imagination, they set to work!

17.01.2022 Kindy Room: In the Kindy Room we have been focussing on Shape and Number through a range of teacher led activities and table top activities for the children to explore freely. We have been naming, recognising and identifying features of different 2D shapes starting with the four basic shapes circle, square, rectangle and triangle and expanding off to pentagon, hexagon, octagon, semi-circle and oval. A particular favourite activity of the childrens was the Shape Hunting......starting with hiding felt 2D shapes and the children then finding them to moving on to hunting for shapes that occur naturally in our environment. This engaged the children in lots of mathematical vocabulary and then transferring this knowledge into their day to day environment. Coming up this week we have our School Holiday Program: Tuesday - Camp Out! - BYO tent/swag, bush crafts, BBQ and campfire songs. Wednesday - Party Day! - Party games, face paints, balloons and your best dress! Thursday - Problem Solving & Critical Thinking - a range of cryptic open ended investigations involving team work and thinking skills. Friday - NAIDOC Week - aboriginal painting, mud paint and rock art! Call/Message to see availability!

17.01.2022 We hope everyone has a wonderful Easter Weekend! We will be closed tomorrow and Easter Monday and back to normal on Tuesday. :)

16.01.2022 A few months ago Iduna and I painted one of our blank outdoor walls and turned it into a brick chalk board! Chubby chalk was purchased and this has been the canvas for many art moments where the children can experiment with the texture of chalk but also the creativity of drawing onto a large black textured surface. Good work! - Courtney 0-2 room

16.01.2022 Take a look at our Easter School Holiday Program! Bookings essential to secure your spot... contact us via our email address [email protected]

12.01.2022 Happy Thursday! Take a look at what the children in the 0-2 room did today... THEY PAINTED T-SHIRTS! An outline of the first letter of their name was printed onto the shirt for each child to paint over. What a beautiful way to encourage parent and community involvement as the families provided t-shirts from home for us to use. Enjoy wearing your t-shirts kiddies!

10.01.2022 We are very excited as David Attenboroughs Planet Earth 2 has started! In the Kindy room we will be watching a new episode each week, and stemming our learning from this. The first episode was about remote Islands and the creatures that call it home, the kindy children showed a particular interest in the Iguanas and Komodo dragons so we will be discussing these habitats and also creating some tabletop scenarios based around this.

10.01.2022 Welcome to our Space and Halloween windows! These were our focus points for the last few weeks in which all the children participated in experiences and activities to do with Space and Halloween. Creativity was used while each child committed to hands on art where they were able to follow visual guided instructions and express their creative side . - Courtney 1/11/17

09.01.2022 A Huge thank you to Jamie from Hustle and Hush for coming and doing a yoga session with our Kindys this morning. This session encouraged the children to used their bodies in a healthy way, improve strength and balance, increase confidence, and build concentration all with a healthy dose of fun!

08.01.2022 Tuesday the 28th of February: PANCAKE DAY One of my favourite days to experience and share with the children has got to be Pancake Day! To avoid using eggs in the centre as they are one of our high risk allergy foods, we use a shake and make product, add in the water and get shaking!... For a special treat I added in some dark chocolate chips . The pancakes were frying away and were then left to cool down before the children could be the official taste testers. The pancakes went down an absolute TREAT! Having each child participate and by giving them the role of shaking the mixture allows each child to develop a sense of belonging to a group. Roles and responsibilities are identified through the childrens involvement and allowing them to enjoy the final product is just the icing on the cake .

07.01.2022 We recently recieved an awesome donation of old tyres. We have already started to incorporate them into our fruit and veg garden. They look amazing around our passionfruit and blueberry plants! If you have any ideas on what else we could use the tyres for, please let us know!

07.01.2022 This week in the 0-2 room! (17/10/16 - 21/10/16) 5 Cheeky Monkeys Jumping on the Bed has been an outrageous success! The children have clung to this song and its melody like a monkey to a banana! . It stemmed with watching the animated version which then led to creating our own story with images. ... As if that wasnt enough, we of course had to implement our own cheeky monkey scene! Some of the children painted masks, we borrowed a mattress and all together with singing we drama played our own version of 5 Cheeky Monkeyss Jumping on the Bed. So cute! See more

05.01.2022 We have been busy gardeners this week as we planted carrot tops into old plastic bottles. This activity promotes sustainable living as well as promoting responsibility as the children learn to care and nurture for their plant as it grows whilst using recycled materials. The children really enjoyed this activity and its great to see the children coming in and checking on the growth of the carrots when they come out into the garden. There will be more activities coming up involving gardening and sustainability so keep your eyes peeled for more updates!

04.01.2022 A Huge thank you to Jamie from Hustle and Hush for coming and doing a yoga session with our Kindy’s this morning. 04.01.2022 Last week in the Kindy Room... We have been developing our sustainable practises, working hard to restock our vegetable garden. Check out our budding budding gardeners... we have planted cucumbers, tomatoes, lettuces, carrots, beans, a mixture of herbs and rhubarb! We recycled some old tyres to create plant pots which the children loved preparing. We have also planted our sunflower seeds ready for our annual sunflower growing competition! ... We will take on the responsibility of caring for our plants by watering them daily, observing the changes that occur. We cant wait to see how our plants get on and hopefully enjoy eating them once they have grown! Natalie :)

03.01.2022 Here in the 0-2 room Gladys and the children have been extremely hands on and busy planting and watering our very own little herb garden of basil and spinach. This has taken place over the course of a few weeks. The childrens involvement is vital to their learning as our long term plan for the herbs is to include them in an experience of cooking pasta! Gladys and the children will pick the herbs, wash them clean, cut them small, and mix them in with the pasta, all before eating the herby pasta. Yum!
