24.01.2022 It seems too much to believe that James Cook University - JCU scientists would deliberately mislead the world and lie about the Great Barrier Reef but it did. That's what the Senate Inquiry has concluded but those of us who know the reef always knew it. AIMS (Australian Institute of Marine Science) is Australia’s tropical marine research agency. https://www.facebook.com/DrPeterRidd/posts/2775585002726186
23.01.2022 Professor Peter Ridd, former Physics Professor at James Cook University with 15 years continuous experience studying the effects of sediment, bleaching, human impact etc on the Great Barrier Reef and who is regarded as an International expert on the reef made an interesting revelation on Outsiders (Sky News) this morning 02FEB2020. Ridd, who is a passionate advocate for quality control on scientific studies and claims about the Great Barrier Reef revealed that a team of 7 Int...ernational scientists reviewed 8 separate claims made by teams of JCU scientists. The scientific papers were all detrimental to the condition of the reef and blamed climate change for all manner of crazy marine behaviour such as fish swimming into the mouths of natural predators. The International team of highly qualified marine and environmental scientists found that all the claims were 100% incorrect. Ridd was careful with his language but it was clear to all that once again JCU scientists are making up false stories of doom and gloom about the Great Barrier Reef to secure government funding for their nutty projects such as replanting the reef with laboratory produced corals. The shear stupidity of this ridiculous idea is easily borne out by the fact that scientists have only scratched the surface of understanding the interactions of corals and animals that make up the Great Barrier Reef and have only identified a small number of the different corals that make up the reef. Professor Peter Ridd is a true champion of the Great Barrier Reef and James Cook University has no credibility whatsoever. https://platogbr.wordpress.com/
22.01.2022 GREAT BARRIER REEF IN GREAT SHAPE With summer over, there is no longer the threat of coral bleaching. The risk of another severe weather event is also unlikely. With these threats from summer over, Reef health updates from the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority will now be posted fortnightly. Recent flood events... There are no reports of significant impacts from flood events in Queensland Cyclone Oma In late February, cyclone Oma brought significant wind and waves in parts of the southern Great Barrier Reef. Reports received show no significant impacts from this weather event.
22.01.2022 NEW TO THE WHITSUNDAYS - REEFSUITES The refurbishment of the Reefworld pontoon, supported by the Queensland Government's Growing Tourism Infrastructure Fund is a collaborative project to support the region?s unique natural environment in delivering this Australian-first tourism experience. The refurbishment team is working hand-in-hand with the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority to ensure all elements of this project are approached in a sustainable and environmentally c...onscious manner. Once work is completed later this year, the refurbished pontoon featuring two Reefsuites will be returned to its former location on Hardy Reef, thus minimising impact on the surrounding marine environment. This vital project will achieve the largest natural coral transplant ever to be undertaken on the Great Barrier Reef. More than 4000 individual pieces of coral have been sustainably removed from old moorings and successfully transplanted onto the existing reef wall to rejuvenate the local environment. A coral farm has also been established to encourage further coral as well as marine animal expansion in the area. The new pontoon will be a hub for public education, providing accurate reef knowledge and conservation guidance to our many visitors. ReefSuites commences on the 1st December 2019 and you can book online or by phone now but be sure to book well in advance.
20.01.2022 The healthy Great Barrier Reef deniers have been caught out lying about coral bleaching and the near-pristine condition of the world’s best coral icon. Dive boat operators who visit the reef almost on a daily basis taking thousands of tourists on diving expeditions have been telling authorities for several years there is nothing wrong with the reef. They have warned lying so-called conservation bodies such as the WWF, Wilderness Society, CAFNEC, the National Coral Bleaching T...askforce and the Australian Conservation Foundation their misleading campaigns would harm the Far North tourism trade. Tourist operators have advised the State Government that coral bleaching is a natural and annual event that can affect small sections of the reef. Spirit of Freedom dive boat owner Chris Eade told the Cairns Post that reports of coral bleaching along 93 per cent of the 2300 klm reef had damaged the reputation of the $5 billion tourism industry. Scientists had written off the entire northern section as a complete white-out, Mr Eade said. We expected the worst, but it is in tremendous condition, most of it pristine, the rest in full recovery. It shows the resilience of the reef. Mike Ball Dive Expeditions operations manager Craig Stephen, who conducted a similar survey on the remote reefs 20 years ago, said there had been almost no change in two decades despite the latest coral bleaching event. The discrepancy is phenomenal. It is so wrong. Everywhere we have been we have found healthy reefs, Mr Ball said. There has been a great disservice to the Great Barrier Reef and tourism and it has not been good for our industry.

17.01.2022 Marine biologist Johnny Gaskell recently explored a hidden hollow in the Great Barrier Reef of Australia. Called a blue hole, it formed during an ice age when the area's limestone floor was above water. When ocean levels again rose the site became a deeper patch of seafloor. In March 2017, a massive cyclone hit a section of the reef. But even in the cyclone's path, this blue hole survived. This fabulous natural phenomenon with it's undamaged pristine coral gardens is located about 200 miles from Airlie Beach in the Whitsunday Islands. It is, however, not a tourist destination. https://video.nationalgeographic.com//00000160-4c9c-debf-a
16.01.2022 This article is written by Professor Peter Ridd, a physicist, an author, and a former professor at James Cook University, North Queensland, Australia and a Great Barrier Reef specialist. In 2014 a scientific paper was released claiming that coal dust from Queensland’s coal ports was affecting the GBR up to 200 km from the ports. However, some CSIRO scientists checked the other scientist's work and found that there was a 3000% concentration measurement error and there is even ...considerable doubt that it was coal dust that was actually measured. To make things even worse a very senior scientist appeared to exaggerate the distance the coal dust travelled saying it was reaching the entire GBR - a 1000% error in area. He went on to say that dredging permits should be revoked for some coal ports. The results of this work were duly reported to a 2014 Senate Inquiry. When the highly respected CSIRO scientists reported the errors to the science journal, they were refused permission to publish a correction. The dubious paper is used in the 2017 Science Consensus Statement and the 2019 GBR outlook report. The science organisations that is responsible for the data was also told of the errors and did not assist with forcing a correction to be published. If the ports can’t be dredged, then they must be shut down taking with them Australia’s biggest export industry. No biggie! I will be reporting the full details of this to the Senate Inquiry as an example of a problem with QA in GBR science. I should add that there is quite a decent fringing reef right next to the trestles at Hay Point. It lives right inside one of Australia’s biggest ports. (I have personally dived on the fringing reef at Hay Point and it is healthy and teeming with fish.) Thanks again to everybody who have donated for my legal battle against JCU https://www.gofundme.com/f/peter-ridd-legal-action-fund.

14.01.2022 Greening Australia has announced the results from a key phase of its REEF AID PROGRAM, with a trial to reduce sediment flowing onto the Great Barrier Reef resulting in a 97 per cent improvement in water quality. The results support the findings of Professor Peter Ridd whose research team have been highly critical of bogus reports by activist climate change groups portraying the reef in a bad light to support their global warming theories. 06.01.2022 False claims by environmental groups that the Great Barrier Reef is dying have pushed the north Queensland tourism industry to the point of near recession, with visitor numbers slumping by 15% amid negative, incorrect perceptions of the natural wonder. Operators are reporting large falls in reef cruise bookings by local and international tourists, while Cathay Pacific recently announced it would drop its direct flights from Hong Kong to Cairns from October after a quarte...r of a century servicing the route because of a lack of demand. For years people have sat by and watched the Great Barrier Reef being used for scaremongering by climate change and climate change devastation protagonists. The fact is that the Great Barrier Reef from time to time has issues with coral bleaching, as would any structure 2200km long. The only problem that the Great Barrier Reef has is that it is being used as a proxy by climate change activists. According to reports by Professor Peter Ridd, an environmental scientist of long standing with the research team of James Cook University on the Great Barrier Reef, the reef is in great shape False reports about the cause of coral bleaching by another senior environmental scientist whose motivation is to secure government funding to keep himself in a job have made the problem worse. Coral bleaching is a common occurrence on the Great Barrier Reef.
05.01.2022 MISLEADING REPORTS ON THE GREAT BARRIER REEF'S DOOM ARE UTTER RUBBISH!! Coral cover has not changed and that there is still excellent coral cover on all 3000 reefs across the Great Barrier Reef system. There is almost no land sediment on the reef from run-off from agricultural processes. https://wattsupwiththat.com//expert-scientists-exaggerate/
04.01.2022 Author: Whitsunday Dive Centre Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority REEF HEALTH REPORT SHARE THIS TO SPREAD REEF KNOWLEDGE... "Encouraging" was the Australian Institute of Marine Science’s Long-term Monitoring Program’s report of coral recovery on many reefs surveyed between September 2019 and June 2020 pointing to the resilience of the Reef ecosystem. The findings from the rest of the report basically say "we don't know what's happening" but not one single bad event to report or predicted and no long term damage to the Great Barrier Reef was detected. Coral bleaching is highly unlikely (no record that it has ever occurred) during La Niña but increased rainfall is likely.
