21.01.2022 Please everyone do the right thing... we don't want to be stopped from our fishing. I have copied a part of email from the president of AFTA FYI I saw a post from Wilson's Fishing that I think summaries the situation best and have copied with a few changes so everyone can use, this is posted below. _____________________________________________________... While we are able to go fish for subsistence in some areas, we must support the decisions by following the guidelines set out, remember each state or even council has different restrictions so please always check and follow local guidelines. Fishing provides families with food and can be of great importance to the mental health of individuals. This is a real opportunity for anglers and boaters to show the way and do the right thing. You must remember that Fishing is a privilege, not a right for people, and as such it can be taken away if we break the rules. What we do not need to see is anglers travelling great distances to reach non-local waters, mass gatherings at ramps and boaters simply out for a day on the water. The ability to fish for food has a caveat to fish locally. It also has an over-riding demand for social distancing and all other mandated Covid-19 regulations. For us this means: Fish with people only from your household Fish only in local waters Do not travel to fish (head directly to your nearest ramp) Fish only for food, not for fun Do not delay when launching and retrieving your boat Do not allow household members to play on the beach or in any nearby park Maintain social distance at all times Do not clean fish at the ramp, take them home to reduce time out of your home If we take this opportunity and laugh in the face of the regulations, we will have this access taken away - it's that simple. We are in this together, so we must all follow the rules. A few bad eggs, some people who do not do the right thing and we will have fishing banned in states that currently allow it. It is now in your hands to do the right thing, so do it. _____________________________________________________ AFTA will also release more information about the JobKeeper payments once available, currently there is limited information until the stimulus has been passed in parliament while is expected on Wednesday next week. Regards, Michael Starkey President Australian Fishing Trade Association

21.01.2022 Well the situation regarding COVID-19 and fishing just keeps evolving. The latest is both Seqwater and Sunwater-managed recreation areas, dams, lakes and weirs are closed to public use until further notice. You can still fish salt water as well as inland rivers and streams as long as you're in a group of no more than two, practicing social distancing and you're fishing to gather food. However, if you don't need to catch fish for food, you're better off staying home. HAPPY FISHING EVERYONE

20.01.2022 Hello all, hope you are well. Times have been very unusual to say the least. luckily we have been allowed to go fishing here. Bob has been fairly busy with rod and reel repairs, but has also made some of his mackerel rigs. Have had some reports of the mackerel are starting to turn up. So if you need some please ring us, we are also in the process of sourcing some local garfish and ribbon fish, hopefully we will have them soon. Bob has been out crabbing and fishing the creeks and rivers, it has been a hit and miss ventures with one day getting excellent catches and the next dead. That's fishing! I have attached pics of the different rigs he has. Cheers Yvonne & Bob

17.01.2022 Hello everyone, we haven't been on for a while. Doesn't mean we have not been busy. Please find attached a notice from Carefish regarding promises made to recreational fishermen by the Labour Party prior to the last election, which have not processed to completion. There have been many people working on this over the past few years. What we would like you to do is make a phone call or email your local labour member or candidate for the upcoming election.
