25.01.2022 Recently, I was contacted by a lovey lady who asked me to paint a memorial rock for a couple who lost their baby girl a few months ago. I felt so honoured to be asked and insisted on doing it free of charge as I usually do. The rock has just arrived at its destination and the lady left the rock on the doorstep of the couple. She has chosen to do this anonymously. A true act of selfless kindness. Fly high Sadie #kindness #whitsundayrocks

21.01.2022 A couple of days late because Ive been into hospital and had surgery so Im still a bit foggy. But spring has sprung and #bekind21 is on my mind and in my heart. Yesterday and today have been about self kindness for me. I find it difficult to put myself first but it is needed so I can recover and get back to what I love doing most - sharing and inspiring kindness in others. 21.01.2022 Meet Billy the Bubblegum Elf. We’ve decided to do something a bit different this year. From December 1st, we will be dropping our own specially designed original Elf rocks around the Whitsundays to be discovered. For every one that is found, we ask the finder to post a photo and tag Whitsunday Rocks. Each find posted will automatically go into our Christmas draw. Prize details will be posted on December 1st via our Facebook page. 18.01.2022 My beautiful friend Helen recently lost her gorgeous boy Rotty to cancer. When she asked me to paint him onto a rock I immediately said yes. Then I panicked because Im not a pet portrait artist. But I let my heart lead the way and this was the result. Hes not artistically perfect by any means (and I made a joke that some of his hair looks like ramen noodles ) But Helen loves him and thats what matters. 17.01.2022 Once upon a time, on our first Valentines Day together, Matt gave me a gorgeous card with a tiny teddy bear attached. This little teddy has been everywhere with me for the last 18 years. Through the good times and the not so good. When Matt was deathly sick in hospital, when we eventually went through our IVF journey, when Charlee was born and every day of those long few weeks where she was on life support. And every hospital visit thereafter. I have prayed to the universe m...any times with my precious little teddy bear held close in the palm of my hand. I named him Teddy Palmer and he means the world to me because he represents all the love that has got us through some incredibly difficult times and made us stronger and grateful for all of the miracles weve experienced too. Teddy bears arent just for kids and babies. I still have each favourite teddy that belonged to all 4 of my children, my dogs have a special teddy and I have Teddy Palmer. Today I have painted a rock version of him and gifted it to Matt who has been really struggling recently. He will sit on our special shelf amongst our personal rock collection. I wanted to share him here with you and remind you that the best gift you will ever receive or give in life is the gift of kindness. 14.01.2022 In honour of #bekind21 Whitsunday Rocks will be creating and sharing kindness tokens out into the community each week. These tokens will feature a small message on the back asking the recipient to pay-it-forward by gifting the token to another or hiding it for someone else to find. My hope is that it will get more people thinking about showing kindness to others. 09.01.2022 Whitsunday Suicide Prevention Network has a Memorial Service happening on September 10th for those who have lost a friend or loved one to Suicide. Sunflowers are released into the sea during the service. For the second year, Shelby and Matt from Whitsunday Rocks have created a series of kindness comfort rocks for guests to take away from the service. 08.01.2022 Hi its Matt here. I want to share an appreciation post. Last month Shelby got a message from a lady who is also a kindness rock artist here in Australia. With Melbournes Covid-19 lockdowns taking a toll, this lady asked Shelby for help to fulfil an order she had received for a couple who had lost a child. You can swipe across to read the appreciation post this lady made for Shelby. I wish people could see how much Shelby does that she doesnt post about. She has the kindest... heart Ive ever known. As I am typing this, she is painting a huge rock for some other people who lost their son to cancer recently. She heard they had a memorial Royal Velvet Sunflower stolen from their front garden so that is what she is painting for them now to replace it. Thank you Shelby for everything you do. For our daughter, for our other kids, for me, our community and for so many people youve never met or even spoken to. Unlike you, I suck at writing. This took me ages to type and prevent you seeing it and stopping me from posting it. I am not good at the whole hashtag thing but Ill try to copy some from one of your other posts like you showed me how to.
