22.01.2022 7 days to go! What is it? It’s the most important day on Chinese calendar! The Chinese New Year! It is a traditional Chinese holiday celebrated at the turn of the Chinese calendar. In China, it is also known as the Spring Festival, the literal translation of the modern Chinese name. Within China, regional customs and traditions concerning the celebration of the Chinese New Year vary widely. Often, the evening preceding Chinese New Year’s Day is an occasion for Chinese famil...ies to gather for the annual reunion dinner. It is also traditional for every family to thoroughly cleanse the house, in order to sweep away any ill-fortune and to make way for good incoming luck. Windows and doors will be decorated with red color paper-cuts and couplets with popular themes of good fortune or happiness, wealth, and longevity. Other activities include lighting firecrackers and giving money in red envelopes. The Chinese New Year is often accompanied by loud, enthusiastic auspicious words or phrases. If you want to say some greetings to Chinese, here are the most common one you can say: ! (Pronounce like Xin Nian Kuai Le, means Happy new year) ! (Pronounce like Gong Xi Fa Cai, means wish you have good fortune)

21.01.2022 Is Chinese difficult? Well, here is a Chinese riddle which makes perfect sense! Have fun with it! P.S. Don't read it out loud in public my friend, just don't..

20.01.2022 Do you know that spoken Chinese is not just a single language? There are between 7 and 13 main regional groups of Chinese (depending on classification scheme), of which the most spoken, by far is Mandarin and Yue (Cantonese). Mandarin is the official language of China and Cantonese is influential in Guangdong province and in Hong Kong. Mastering Cantonese and Mandarin means you can communicate with over 1.3 BILLIONS of Chinese speaking people (according to Wikipedi...a). But obviously it is not a common skill that anyone can obtain! We have 2 types of written Chinese as well Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese. Traditional Chinese are those Chinese characters in any character set that does not contain newly created characters or character substitutions performed after 1946. They are most commonly used in Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau. Simplified Chinese means the character structure or body that have existed for thousands of years alongside regular, more complicated forms had been simplified. It have been used in mainland China since 1956. These makes them very different to each other and cause confusion very easily! Sounds crazy right? Not at all if you have the right person!

17.01.2022 Looks like Airlie Beach is ready for our new guests! How about you?

11.01.2022 Thank you for all of your likes and support lovely people! We received quite a lot of enquiries about will we operate a Chinese lesson. At this stage we only have some materials about basic Chinese understanding and training for hospitality staff. But we already started thinking about a Chinese interest group for people who would be interested! Please give us a like or maybe your comment about it if you would love to play with some Chinese!
