02.01.2022 The alarm blared in the dark and we rose with a mix of weariness and excitement. We raced through a delicious breakfast and made our way to the marina to begin ...the three hour journey out to the reef. The sea was sheet glass as the sun rose and we weaved our way through the islands, with a quick stop at Hamilton Island. Even the staff were raving about how incredible the conditions were as the deep blue transitioned into the turquoise of the shallow Hardy Reef. Everyone was chomping at the bit to get in the water, with the stinger suits considered the height of fashion. Free time snorkelling was mixed with a short tour and the reef looked vibrant and healthy, with plenty of tropical fish to follow. The wind never rose above a zephyr. Time was divided between the water, the sun and a submersible. The trip back involved a lot of Uno and photoshoots. Till tomorrow! -Stuart McKerihan See more
