25.01.2022 WM followers, please click on Leyburn Sprint's picture and like it so we can beat that darn S15 of Trent Laves.

24.01.2022 A case of what should have been! A night to forget for both cars unfortunately with more hardware issues for Brendan causing grief (time to dip into the piggy bank). A gallant effort to put the car P8 in qually went unrewarded as he would press on having some good battles on the way to a final result of P17. The "Hail Mary" long shot roll of the dice on strategy attempting to compensate for some early dramas only pushing him deeper into the pack. Chris found some pace in qua...l putting the car P3 and pressed on through the race with consistent times. Mid race internet issues nearly caused a complete drop out and cost a few seconds as he ran wide trying to multitask. After the final stop Chris found himself in an incredible battle with Glen for the lead though all efforts were futile when on the penultimate lap he realised he was monitoring the fuel data incorrectly and in fact did not have enough fuel to finish. A splash and dash dropped him to P8 though a 40 second penalty for speeding out of the pitbox pushed him all the way back down to P14, absolutely filthy with himself for what could have been an effective win, with a protest submitted for an ontrack incident between Glen and Brady. The big positive for the night is that both cars had very good pace, much more competitive than previous weeks. Bring on next Friday at Watkins Glen, where we will all expect to be chasing Cal to the flag!

24.01.2022 Final round tonight and where else but the Mecca of Australian motorsport... BATHURST! Double points on offer this round, the championship is wide open though some luck will be needed for Chris to surpass the 14 point deficit and clench the title from the current P2 spot. A lot of luck combined with a solid drive could promote Brendan from P9 all the way to a theoretical P3. ... Tune in to twitch.tv/doadrift from 8pm to see all the action and our special retro liveries, see if you can guess where they originated! (no cheating those who already know) Ps. We even made the cover photo with our Taco Bell livery from way back in round 2!

24.01.2022 No more teasers this time, the final run Sunday afternoon. The old girl was humming!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jguYTdqRNa4

23.01.2022 Ok, so we said wait until Friday for the livery launch but it just looks too damn good to wait that long! You won't miss either car tomorrow night at Mosport, sporting (pun intended) our dayglo orange Diversion Garage livery. Chris in the #35 is P2 and Brendan in the #79 P9 in the championship, with both still showing some solid pace in tonight's private practice we are quietly confident and hopeful of some good results. ... Tune in to twitch.com/doadrift tomorrow night at 8pm to catch all the action! Matt Ashley

23.01.2022 Australia's worst kept secret is out! Introducing the new 240z for John and Chris to play with next year. John debuting the rig this weekend at Challenge Bathurst. All setup in garage #1 ready to roll!

22.01.2022 Round 2 of the stockcars tonight with both cars back on track following Chris's holiday. This week finds us at the happy hunting ground from last season, Circuit Gilles Villeneuve where Chris picked up his maiden and only win to date. Can Brendan improve from his P7 last time around with the new hardware on board? Tune into all the action race start 8:05pm on twitch.tv/doadrift

21.01.2022 P1 !!! We certainly did not expect the race to pan out like that! We were both on struggle street during practice trying to extract time, Brendan again had pedal issues meaning he missed a good chunk of the session. Sporting our FrenkenScapes "leafery" painted by Lindsay at least we would look the part!... Qualy rocked around with Brendan laying down a solid banker just inside the top 10, Chris struggling to put laps together left it until the final 5 minutes to stick the car on P7. After the chequered flag Brendan managed to find a few 100ths to pip Chris and achieve his best qualy result to date. Both cars starting inside the top 10 in P7 and P8, a top 5 was the supposed unrealistic target. A solid start for both cars both picking up a few spots until disaster struck with Brendan getting turned around on the exit of the hairpin. Keeping the throttle buried he managed to execute a perfect 360 and get back on his way but not without losing a heap of places and most importantly track position. A review was requested and subsequently a 15 second time penalty added to the culprit's final result. After the first round of stops Brendan was around 20th with Chris sitting comfortably in P5/P6. A few laps later the competition caution was called with many of the front runners and indeed half the pack jumping in for their second stops. It was time to play the strategy card, to get home on fuel would be extremely difficult so both cars pressed on, now sitting P2 and P6. Two laps after the restart the leader had to clear a slowdown for cutting the course handing P1 to Chris but the job was far from done. Calculating fuel numbers on the fly we assumed those who stopped under the caution would have next to no chance of making it home, at least not without losing a heap of time fuel saving. Pressing on hard, both pitted, fueled for home taking 2 tyres in the process. A few laps later, the announcement came through the iracing spotter "the leaders are pitting now." With a grin from ear to ear, we knew we were looking good for a podium and Brendan maybe just outside the 10. The pitstops balanced out with Chris putting on a few moves to pickup the lead, with Cal Whatmore 0.4 sec behind. Eyes forward, hitting the marks to not make a mistake on the difficult to pass circuit would be key to picking up the W. With tyres fading and a clearly faster driver behind Chris pressed on, Brendan starting the feel the effects of tyre degradation was beginning to struggle for grip whilst stuck in a battle of his own. At the line it was Chris who picked up his first win of the series with Brendan coming home P8. Obligatory victory drifting and team donuts at the hairpin followed. What a night, certainly one to remember! Bring on Daytona road course next Friday night!!! Richard Frenken Selina Wilson-Frenken Lindsay Jade Whittaker

21.01.2022 Round 8 of 10 completed last night at Watkins Glen in the US of A, using our impression of Brendan's MX5 livery. Unfortunately the "guru of Watkins" Cal Whatmore was unable to compete awaiting the arrival of his first born. Good pace in official practice had both cars well inside the top 10 with Brendan P6 and Chris in P3. Track conditions seemed to vary significantly for qualifying with a heap of grip on entry but not much on exit. Making this transition proved difficult fo...Continue reading

21.01.2022 Thanks again to our latest partner Adventure 4x4 and Auto Electrics at Kedron for sorting out the starter motor issue which has plagued the Z since day dot !

16.01.2022 Sorry for the delay in debrief Michael Handy A bit of a bitter sweet race last Friday at Daytona. Tyre wear was crazy, before each stop it was a mission just to keep the car planted! Brendan ran into some hardware problems, with his wheel only giving 180 degrees of total rotation making the car VERY hard to drive and near impossible to extract the pace he had shown in practice.... Caught up in a few incidents of his own including lap 1 turn 1 and some minor contact with another car requiring a redress, Brendan managed to come home P14, not a bad result for what was a "bad" night. Chris started P3 where he sat maintaining a fairly consistent gap to the leaders, whilst not quite having their outright pace. Rolling the dice on the second stop, taking right-side tyres only paid off, though the final few laps were like driving on marshmallows. Chris held off a hard charge at the end to bring the Adventure 4x4 & Auto Electrics rig home P2, 2 seconds behind the leader and only a couple of tenths back to P3! This week's race is back to Canada at Mosport (Canadian Tyre Motorsport Park), a ripper track with both drivers seeming to have some pretty good pace based on practice times so far! Keep an eye out for this week's EPIC Diversion Garage livery to be launched on Friday! Mark Reynolds Matt Ashley

14.01.2022 What have we been doing to keep sane the past few weeks? Sim Racing like the rest of the motorsport community. Whilst Chris is fairly well seasoned on iRacing, Brendan finally took the plunge and setup a rig to go for a play. You can watch both of us in the TA2 championship tonight on doadrift twitch and youtube broadcast, jump online just before 8pm!

14.01.2022 The Z is all tidied up and ready to roll for the 2020 season. Many thanks to Mark and the team at Adventure 4x4 and Auto Electrics Kedron for their support and assistance. #Adventure4x4andAutoElectrics... #wheresthestickersMark See more

10.01.2022 Not a bad result last night for both drivers, Brendan picking up another top 10 after what seemed like getting caught up in every accident on track, amplified by internet dramas. Chris managed to finish up P3 using some strategy and serious fuel saving to make the job a bit easier. The guys up front are still just too quick... we will get some practice in during the week and keep fighting! Brendan now sits P10 in the championship (after missing rd1), with Chris jumping up to... P2! Unfortunately not a hell of a lot of airtime to show off our GCG Turbochargers Pty Ltd livery, so for those who missed it, here's a few shots of Chris drifting the Les Combes complex after the race. Bring on next Friday night @ Montreal's Circuit Gilles Villeneuve!

09.01.2022 Ride onboard with John at Challenge Bathurst 2018, in the group E final session where he was able to set the fastest "legal" time in class for the weekend after two competitors broke out. Managed to get down from a 2:52 in the first session to a 2:36.44 (breakout time was 2:36.00) in the final with a massive 241 kmh (150mph) down conrod straight. John was able to set the fastest recorded 1st and 3rd sectors for a 240/260/280Z car over the weekend, not bad for the first time d...riving the car and track! Still time left over the top, but its much better driving her back onto the trailer than hanging her off the fence! A massive thankyou again to Matt, Chris and the crew at Diversion Garage for their assistance in unleashing every reliable pony available. The new "old girl" certainly stirred up the pack and all done on pump 98. #whoneedsavgas

09.01.2022 We're down at the world famous Mount Panorama for Challenge Bathurst with Chris taking the Z for a squirt, celebrating 50 years of the 240z with 50 other Z cars. First time on the track to say the nerves were up would be an understatement starting from P3. Plenty of laps on iRacing seem to have helped if only for the race lines. On very old rubber punching out a respectable 2:39.8 on the second flyer, unfortunately catching the back of the 55 car field on only lap 3 meant tha...t was all she wrote. Front tyres down to the wear indicator as we expected they would be by the end meant it was time to change boots. Session 2 we fitted up the newer, smaller rolling diameter rears to try get some better drive up the hill, aswell and the newer fronts to match. Starting P2, in a 2 hotlap redflag affected session the the mountain Gods spoke and allowed a ripping 5 + second improvement to go below the 2:36.00 limit, resulting in a DQ but a smile from ear to ear when seeing the 2:34.5 on the stop watch. Session 3 started out of P1 with the heavens beginning to open, leaving the pits with a drying track the plan was to do an inspection lap and make the call from there. With no standing puddles or significant water to be seen it was game on though being careful to keep above the 2:36.00 limit. Shifting 1000rpm earlier, braking earlier into Griffins and The Chase to try slow the old girl down wasn't enough to compensate lobbing it down the mountain at the same time. Ultimately setting a "slow" 2:34.0 winning a free trip to see the clerk of the course, expecting a high five or similar unfortunately what was delivered was a final warning, break out again, you're packing up and heading back to Brisbane! We are back on track tomorrow morning 9:50 local time with the larger rear tyres to try compensate for the unbelievable power/torque curve (delivered by Matt Ashley's tuning at Diversion Garage) and attempt to stay above that darn 2:36 limit. Many thanks to our sponsors: Diversion Garage - Capalaba Adventure 4x4 Auto Electrics - Kedron Credit: MTR Images for the cracker photos

09.01.2022 The championship is beginning to take shape with Chris sitting P3 and Brendan in P16 (after missing round 1). Based on Brendan's recent results we estimate he would be sitting somewhere around P6/8 outright. Last Friday culminated in 2 x top 10 finishes with Brendan P10 and Chris P6 after being on for a possible podium, before a mistake in the final pitstop cost a heap of time. This week takes us to Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium, one of, if not the best race track o...n earth. With a few hours of practice under our belts we are ready to rumble and hopefully close the gap to the guys up front. Lookout for our fresh red/white GCG Turbochargers Pty Ltd liveries with Brendan in #79 and Chris in #35. Grab a few bevies and jump on the broadcast, ready for a race start at 8pm to watch the action unfold! We may even sneak into the comms box after the race for a chat in the post-race show.

09.01.2022 Round 6 of the freshly renamed Stock Car Road Championship takes us to Florida, USA for Daytona road course. Brendan and Chris will both be looking to push forward in the championship battle, currently sitting in 9th and 2nd respectively. We spent a few hours this afternoon setting up some new hardware, already finding Brendan some solid lap time improvements but most importantly the consistency that was lacking. As always, tune in to #doadrift on Youtube or Twitch just befor...e 8pm tomorrow night (Friday) to catch all the action. Keep an eye out for the striking Adventure 4x4 & Auto Electrics livery. 08.01.2022 NEVER GIVE UP! SATURDAY Brendan rolled out for Qualy on Saturday morning on the first set of green tyres in who know how long. We didn't quite get the pressures and setup right but still achieved a 57.1 on the stopwatch due to a dead battery in lap timer (recorded as 56.9 through our datalogger) good enough for P5. ...Continue reading

08.01.2022 We know the feeling! Thank goodness for iRacing or we'd have gone insane!

07.01.2022 Well, that's a wrap we're home safe and sound after an epic week. Sunday session 1 Big rear tyres fitted and put phone in car (modern regularity) to try keep from breaking out again and being sent on our way. Pretty uneventful session backing right off down Conrod and into Murray's, until we met traffic and a few cars didn't see the yellow flags coming into the chase eeek! Luckily we saw them coming and left plenty of room before hunting them back down albiet.... Finished session with a best lap of 2:36.5 Session 2 Again had the phone fitted though this time the lap timer didn't activate. Started to have a bit of a crack over the top again backing off down conrod and estimating the gap to 2nd and 3rd on track to not break out. We saw a 2:36.1 on natsoft live feed though this disappeared to become a 2:38.1 . Great fun but again, uneventful and a bit disheartening to not be able to really go for it. Final session Despite the desire to throw the small tyres back on and go for a solid lob in the last, we thought better of it - didn't need a black mark on the license or to get a reputation with race control. With timer working again a slow outlap yielded a 2:40.0, with this in mind it was drive to the number and hope that the delta is accurate. Having a decent lob over the top (still plenty left on the table) we backed out down Conrod again looking to maintain a delta in the high 3's. A stab on the brake right at the line showed a 2:36.20 onboard, though Natsoft said otherwise with a breakout of 0.15 (2:35.85) meaning the day was done. We can only assume that the officials saw that we were doing everything to play to the rules so no sanctions were applied aside from another 10,000 points to the regularity score and a DQ. All in all, an epic weekend at the mountain. We exceeded expectations, the car did not miss a beat and both car and driver finished undamaged for the weekend. A massive thankyou to our sponsors Diversion Garage and Adventure 4x4 and Auto Elecrics, all of the volunteers, the Challenge Bathurst crew, the guys at the Z car club of Qld for organising the event. Thankyou also to Gary Isbel for his help with prepping the car and polishing it after each run , Brendan for dragging the car on the 2000km return trip solo and for keeping the nerves under control, Dad for the countless hours he tipped into the car to ensure we would finish every run, Mum for doing Mum things ;) and of course to my beautiful wife Lisa and kids Madison and Brooklyn for allowing me to tick off a bucket list item and cheering me on through the whole process. What's next???

05.01.2022 Round 5 of the TA2 series tonight sees us at the highly abrasive and tight Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal. We are both battling to extract the pace to be at the pointy end, hopefully we can use some strategy to make it work. Tyre wear and keeping off the concrete will be paramount for a good result! Tune in to Doadrift just before 8pm to checkout this week's livery, beautifully painted by Lindsay Jade Whittaker.

03.01.2022 https://youtu.be/esnaB4eh8KM I worked out the overlays (a little out of sequence)! Losing over 4 seconds down Conrod trying not to break out in final run and still did a 2:35.85 #somuchforthedelta #Itried #DiversionGarage #Adventure4x4andAutoElectrics
