20.01.2022 What happens if you feel unwell and get tested? If you are feeling unwell (even just slightly unwell) please stay at home and get tested if you are experiencing any COVID 19 type symptoms - respiratory symptoms, mild flu-like symptoms, a sore throat, runny nose, cough or loss of smell should be tested.. Let your manager or CEO know. https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/getting-tested-coronavirus-covi If you are tested you will be notified of a positive (by phone) or negative result (...by text). Positive cases are notified to DHHS by the respective hospital, GP or pathology lab. If you are positive DHHS will contact you and undertake an investigation for potential contact traces. DHHS may then approach WCC, as the employer to assist further with contact tracing. What happens if you have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive? If you receive health advice that you have been identified as a close contact of someone with COVID 19, you will be required to self-quarantine for 14 days and should inform your manager or CEO. If you start to feel unwell, and especially if you develop any of the typical symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19) during the 14-day self-quarantine period, you should either: call the dedicated coronavirus (COVID-19) hotline on 1800 675 398 (24 hours, 7 days a week) for advice call ahead to your GP before you arrive at the doctors office so they can prepare appropriate infection control measures mention any recent contact with a person confirmed to have coronavirus (COVID-19). Any considerations regarding an employees requirement to self-quarantine or self-isolate will be based on health advice. DHHS is the first point of contact for accurate and up-to-date health information. Public health management currently involves stringent contact tracing in relation to confirmed cases. Individuals that have had close contact with a confirmed case will be assessed and managed accordingly by DHHS. What is the difference between self-quarantine and self-isolation? https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/self-quarantine-coronavirus-cov If an employee has been in contact with someone who has been diagnosed as positive with COVID-19, or they have been identified as at risk based on latest health advice, they will be asked to self-quarantine at home. People who have been diagnosed as COVID-19 positive will be asked by DHHS to self-isolate. Depending on how unwell they are, this may be done at home or in a healthcare facility. Employees who are not sick, but are required to self-quarantine or self-isolate in accordance with health advice, can work from home. In situations where this is not possible, you should discuss alternatives with your manager or CEO.
