23.01.2022 Functional Medicine Testing Functional pathology tests are used to investigate genetic, biochemical, nutritional, metabolic and hormonal status. The results assist in the diagnosis, treatment and management of patients. We look at why you’re suffering rather than treat one symptom with the ‘band-aid’ approach. Functional Pathology testing provides a tool for early intervention, management and monitoring of ongoing treatment efficiency in which the tests are designed so ...patients can collect specimens in the privacy of your own home. Each practitioner has their own approach when it comes to testing. Some do too much testing and some don’t do enough. Tests cost time and money so the right tests need to be done at the right time. For example, I do the Hair Mineral Analysis Test first and foremost. This test tells us so much and is not too expensive. The other initial tests to get done are through your GP, for example, iron studies. 23.01.2022 Most of us have heard of turmeric as being a great anti-inflammatory food. Despite it's benefits, you need a therapeutic dose if you have depression and food is not enough. You need the right quantity and quality of supplementation which a qualified health professional can help with. DM/PM me for a chat about how I can help you

22.01.2022 Wishing you, your family and loved ones a very Merry Christmas. See you in 2021!!

21.01.2022 I've been hiding for a few months getting my own health back on track. I'm now ready to share my knowledge and help you with your mental health, particularly depression, anxiety and ADHD. The lovely Jo and Vicky from Two Natural Ladies have invited me to talk about mental health tomorrow morning (23rd March) at 7am on 88.3 Southern FM. The Two Natural Ladies have set out to create a community of wise women and like minded individuals contributing to each other that share th...eir passions that include natural child birthing, environmental contributions, complementary therapies, mental health as well as personal growth and development. Can't wait!

20.01.2022 It was such a beautiful day, I took time out to walk by the bay. Also taking time out to sort out my health. So busy looking after everyone else (most women do!) that I neglect myself. Perimenopause, sleep and issues with my scoliosis were on the list today. So grateful for the people who help me including @kerriebaumgartner for remedial massage.... Now is the time to start thinking of sorting out those health issues you've had for a while. After an awful 2020, you want 2021 to be the best ever, right? See more

19.01.2022 Blood Test Results & RDA’s Clinical Nutritionists interpret blood test results differently to the conventional system. People who fall within the reference range are assumed to have no clinical signs and symptoms of any disease and are considered ‘normal’. In the complementary healthcare world, we know that most of our patients are by no means ‘normal’. Our readings are based on looking for a subclinical or functional problem and treating accordingly. We focus on prev...entative health. Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) is the average daily level of intake sufficient to meet the nutrient requirements of nearly all (97%-98%) healthy people. Again, we take a therapeutic and preventative approach and recommend supplementation at a therapeutic dose which is much higher than the RDA. Dr Linus Pauling, a Nobel Prize winner concluded that the RDA’s daily nutrient allowances ae ‘enough to keep people barely alive in ordinary poor health’. Makes you think, doesn’t it? When was the last time you had blood tests done? #bloodtests #RDAs #healthtips #nutritioneducation #mentalwellness #wholefoodnutrition #wholefoodsnutritionist #nutritioncoaching #nutritioncoachingonline #functionalnutritioncoach #healthfoodcoach #nutrionistaustralia #foodnutrition #guthealth #anxiety #stress

18.01.2022 Oxytocin is our love hormone that acts as a neurotransmitter in our brain. It’s our social behaviour and bonding hormone and stimulates the release of dopamine and serotonin. By stimulating serotonin, this suppresses our anxiety hormone, cortisol and makes us feel fantastic! We’re all lacking in oxytocin in this pandemic but there are some things we can do to increase it (without hugging, kissing, cuddling). Of course, if you live with a pet, partner or kids go for it! 14.01.2022 Most people have heard of serotonin and norephinephrine which we need to prevent depression. But did you know that without adequate essential fatty acids (EFA's), these neurotransmitters cannot send their signals properly? We also need EFAs for our skin, nails, behaviour, learning, immunity and mental health. The best sources are oily fish such as salmon and mackerel but also in walnuts, chia seeds and flaxseeds. #essentialfattyacids... #essentialfattyacidsinfood #essentialfattyacidsfoods #essentialfattyacidsdeficiency #essentialfattyacidssources #essentialfattyacidsimportance #nutrition #NutritionTips #nutritioncoach #wholefooddiet #wholefoods #wholefoodnutrition #wholefoodsnutritionist #nutritioncoaching #nutritioncoachingonline #functionalnutritioncoach #healthfoodcoach #nutrionistaustralia #mentalhealth #depression #stress #anxiety See more

06.01.2022 Masses of spring veggies in this quiche, including a sweet potato base. This recipe came from a supermarket magazine but next time, I'll throw in whatever veggies I have left in the fridge. Frozen peas and broad beans in this too Easy and delicious

05.01.2022 So excited to get my first organic veggie box from @parkigrocer. Made up a salad with the contents - broad beans, radish, lettuce, carrots and avo with scrambled eggs. . The taste was amaaazing! So different to non organic. And good for you too! . Wonder what I'll get this week

05.01.2022 Towards the end of our lockdown in Melbourne, I was starting to suffer from stress and anxiety. Now that we're out of lockdown, getting back to normal has been a very slow process. My blog for this month is about dealing with Covid-19 traumatic stress and increasing our resilience with multi-targeted nutrients. Sometimes diet alone isn't enough. If you know someone who is still struggling, I would love you to share. Thank you!... https://www.wholefoodnutrition.com.au/mutli-targeted-nutri/ See more

04.01.2022 There are many theories flying around about what kind of diet is best for depression. After studying the research, it seems that the Mediterranean diet is best. When specific diets such as low FODMAP, Paleo, Keto are followed for a long time, important food groups are missing which means important nutrients are missing that are needed for mental health. These types of diets are also not beneficial to the health of the gut microbiome which is key when it comes to mental he...alth. The only foods that I agree on cutting out are gluten and dairy and of course, any foods you may be sensitive to. Inflammation plays a big role in depression and these two food groups add to the inflammation load. What is included in the Mediterranean diet? Fruit, veg, wholegrains, legumes, fish, lean red meat, olive oil and nuts. Simple but effective. #Mediterraneandiet #mediterraneandietfoods #mediterraneandietbenefits #mediterraneandietaustralia #mediterraneandiethealthbenefits #mediterraneandietfordepression #mentalhealthandwellbeing #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthmatters #mentalhealthinaustralia #mentalhealthsupport #mentalhealthrelief #mentalwellness #nutrition #NutritionTips #nutritioncoach #wholefooddiet #wholefoods #wholefoodnutrition #wholefoodsnutritionist #nutritioncoaching #nutritioncoachingonline #functionalnutritioncoach #healthfoodcoach #nutrionistaustralia #foodnutrition #guthealth #mentalhealth #depression #anxiety #stress

03.01.2022 I was lucky enough to be invited by Jo and Vicky from Two Natural Ladies to chat about nutrition and mental health on their podcast. It was a unique experience chatting at 7am in my dressing room (best sound proofing room!) so here's the final result. My first one but it can only get better. Check out the Two Natural Ladies on FB and have a listen to their podcast on Spotify.

03.01.2022 Do you ever stop what you're doing when you experience something like your eye lid twitching or the sole of your foot burning? Most people don't because they're too busy or don't notice or think they're normal. These are signs of a nutrient deficiency. Here are some common ones: ... Eyelid twitches - magnesium Muscle cramps - magnesium, calcium Burning soles of feet - Vitamin B5 Stretch marks - zinc, Vitamin E Dry and brittle hair - iron A qualified Nutritionist can spot these signs at an initial consultation. Or you can find out what's going on in your tissues with the Hair Tissue Mineral test For me, the eyelid twitching is definitely a sign I need to take magnesium. Do you notice anything? See more

02.01.2022 Taking probiotics? Yes? That's good to know because these live bacteria helps improve the health of our gut microbiome. BUT do we know if it's the right one for our circumstances? Not all probiotics are the same - different quality, different strains, different dose. Do we even need them? Changing our diet maybe all that's needed like adding kefir, tempeh or pickles in your meal. Talk to a nutritionist before buying to know what suits your needs or alternatives. ... #probiotics #probioticsinfood #probioticsbenefits #probioticshealthbenefits #probioticskefir #probioticsuses #nutrition #NutritionTips #nutritioncoach #wholefooddiet #wholefoods #wholefoodnutrition #wholefoodsnutritionist #nutritioncoaching #nutritioncoachingonline #functionalnutritioncoach #healthfoodcoach #nutrionistaustralia
