25.01.2022 In a world where this crisis is bringing out the worst in people (online scams, fights in supermarkets, hoarding etc), Ive been really inspired by some friends Ive seen online doing amazing things for those truly in need and less fortunate than the majority of us. Whilst it is fair to say greed, panic and fear are sadly contagious, I think this is also true for kindness and I want to thank those good people I alluded to for inspiring me. One simple thing I can do as a physio is to assist elderly pensioners who cant afford telehealth physio (online consults). My service is free if you are one of them. Ill be setting aside 10 consultations a week to offer this free service. Please share and get them to reach out to me and Ill book them in. Look after each other people. Be kind

25.01.2022 Education is a key treatment intervention used by physios now more than ever. Having your physio take the time to explain things to you and allowing you to feel in control of your condition is critical. The more you know about your condition, your pain, and the journey ahead, the quicker youll reach the finish line

23.01.2022 I was just reminded by Facebook of the traumatic shoulder condition my daughter had a couple of years ago. Thankfully it was nothing more than a Frozen Shoulder #disney

22.01.2022 Telehealth is in full swing at Whole Health Physio. Here is an infographic we produced highlighting the numerous benefits @ Whole Health Physiotherapy

20.01.2022 Really looking forward to chatting via zoom with the directors and clients from Aspen Coaching tomorrow. For those of you who dont know them they are the Masters of Movement in Perth ( https://aspencoaching.com.au ). Their style of training ticks so many fitness boxes including strength, balance, flexibility, mobility, proprioception, just to name a few. Their classes are for all adult ages and skill levels. Currently operating live online classes which are great for those looking to keep fit, healthy and pain free during the Covid era. Come and hear us chat tomorrow by either getting in touch with Aspen directly and asking for details, or use this link https://us02web.zoom.us/j/88369284721

20.01.2022 If youve been unlucky enough to lose your job over these past few weeks and are currently, or have previously been, a patient of Whole Health Physiotherapy, then just reach out and let us know of your situation and well happily treat you free of charge next week. No gap (so free for you) if you have health insurance. If you dont have health insurance, its still completely free. Its the least we can do

19.01.2022 As the saying goes you cant go wrong getting strong. At the very least youll be stronger. Although in many cases packing muscle around an injured area will make it more resilient and less prone to feeling sore. Its a little more complex than that, but trust us, strengthening is good for you

19.01.2022 Better to spread a little kindness around town than the other spreadable option. We are still offering FREE physio sessions tomorrow and Saturday to all of our patients who have been unfortunate enough to lose their job/business over the past few weeks. Get in touch

19.01.2022 Empowering you through specific exercise prescription is one of the main treatment interventions used at Whole Health Physio. Our cutting edge rehab gym is used both for assessment of technique and physical ability, as we as being utilised for exercise rehabilitation

18.01.2022 The title says it all A great post by @physioaustralia explaining telehealth.

18.01.2022 Another day, another ukulele lesson Keeping the brain ticking over during isolation.

18.01.2022 It was great to have the opportunity to contribute to yesterdays West Australian newspaper. Weve been seeing a lot of new musculoskeletal injuries in the clinic over the past week as a result of people doing too much too soon after doing too little for too long. Get back to being active as soon as possible, but take it easy and take your time progressing when returning to your sport or exercise of choice. Some great input too from fitness industry leaders including Aspen Coaching. Link below for those who subscribe to the West. https://thewest.com.au//exercise-is-key-to-getting-out-of-

17.01.2022 At Whole Health Physio we are going above and beyond to ensure you are kept safe.

16.01.2022 A superb event last night with the @kixxfit team and @lululemonausnz Claremont. Lots of great connections formed with like-minded professionals. Thanks Kixxfit @ lululemon Australia and New Zealand

16.01.2022 The government is encouraging private practice physiotherapy clinics to remain open and continue treating those in need, so as we offload GPs and avoid everybody rushing to their doctor with musculoskeletal pain. Despite this however we are encouraging a transition to telehealth appointments so as to minimise physical contact and help flatten the curve. This week will be the last week we have the clinic operating as usual. Telehealth will become the new norm for appointments ...from next week, and only extremely urgent patients will be given face-to-face consultations. Whilst we are sad to be temporarily changing the way we operate by restricting physical access to the clinic, we feel this is the right thing to do for our beloved patients and the planet as a whole. Rest assured that telehealth consults are extremely effective for both assessing and treating musculoskeletal disorders. There is a huge amount of scientific literature supporting its use. Please feel free to reach out to me personally on 0451037330 to discuss telehealth or anything relating to upcoming appointments. Stay safe and be kind See more

16.01.2022 Pretty simple stuff

16.01.2022 It was great to get out on the weekend with mum and the kids for a ride I took the lazy option with the e-skate whilst everybody else got fit.

15.01.2022 Updating our security signs today.

15.01.2022 Thanks to Surge Fitness CBD for having me over to chat about all things tendon related. It was great to meet the team of professionals there and discuss tendon injury along with the most evidence based management of tendinopathy. Super impressive gym too

14.01.2022 A great day 1 of an advanced strength and conditioning course with Optimise Rehab at WAIS. Looking forward to tomorrow. Plenty of new ideas so far to challenge my patients with on Monday

12.01.2022 At WHP we like to allow time to listen to your story in great detail at the initial consultation. As a result we allocate an hour so as a thorough assessment can be performed, and treatment can be commenced in this time. Youll never feel rushed at our clinic, and the consultation will always be 1 in 1, without your physio moving from patient to patient. Follow up appointments are always either 30 or 60 minutes in duration depending on what you require.

12.01.2022 A huge thanks to the legends in the world of movement training, Aspen Coaching, for inviting me to host a live Q&A last Saturday discussing a range of topics from running, to tendons, to posture, just to name a few. It was a lot of fun and an honour to bounce ideas off great minds (Emma and Glen Robson)

11.01.2022 We were getting a little sick of 2020, so Ollie and I took a little trip into the future this morning to test out some exciting new strength training/rehab equipment at Vitruvian Form. Although it offers up to 200kg of app programmed resistance, I had to set it a long way (about 190kg) shy of this for the biceps curls.

11.01.2022 A great post by @physioaustralia recently

11.01.2022 A big thanks to Dr Merv Travers from Optimise Rehab and Life Ready Physio for running an information packed Fri and Saturday on all things Strength and Conditioning (S&C). This is an area that is attracting more and more attention from physios as we see time and time again the benefits of getting patients strong Looking forward to another Optimise Rehab course at the end of the month. Can highly recommend it to all physios working in a musculoskeletal, sports or pain field.

10.01.2022 There arent many patients who visit a physio who shouldnt be prescribed some sort of movement. Whether that be heavy isotonic loading for a tendinopathy, range of movement exercise for a stiff joint, muscle stretches or simply encouraging safe patterns of movement for a patient who is fearful of moving a body part. Movement prescription is a key intervention used by physios across the world

09.01.2022 We weren’t looking this chipper before the final post grad exam. This is 5 minutes after it was all over. Congrats to the 2020 Clinical Sports Physio Masters crew! It’s been a roller coaster of a year but we got there

09.01.2022 Day 2 of the Strength and Conditioning course at WAIS. Lots of sprints, plyometrics and pain science discussion included in today. Thanks Optimise Rehab for running a superb course

09.01.2022 Another well written evidence-based article by journalist Raquel de Brito in today's The West Australian Newspaper. It was a pleasure to be included alongside GP Dr Chelvanayagam and pain researcher Dr Felicity Braithwaite, with the topic this time osteoarthritis (OA). The article highlights that a non-surgical approach is first-line management for patients with knee and hip OA. Education, weight management (if required) and exercise are the key interventions. A non-surgical approach can very often result in surgery not being necessary, or at least pushed back many years.

08.01.2022 Sadly there are a lot of these popping up during these tense times

07.01.2022 Great to be a part of the awesome health and fitness team @kixxfit Stay tuned ....

07.01.2022 A great piece on low back pain treatment options last night on the ABC. Back pain treatment costs Australians almost $5 billion a year, yet Professor Ian Harris, orthopaedic surgeon, says There is evidence that a structured physical therapy program ... is as good as spine fusion for people with chronic low back pain. See physiotherapist Jenny McConnell work successfully with a patient who described her back pain as ten times worse than childbirth. Head to our Facebook page to view the video and let us know your thoughts.

07.01.2022 A little over a year ago we shifted location and built a new clinic in West Perth. The aim was to have a space which promoted patient empowerment by encouraging exercise prescription to be a key treatment intervention. Attached to our spacious consultation room is a cutting edge gym, fully equipped with everything a physio would want to use during the assessment and treatment of a patient. There is only ever 1 patient in the gym at a time as the gym is accessed through a door within the consult room. Our 100% 1 on 1 and time generous consultations allow for a very personalised experience each and every time.

06.01.2022 At Whole Health Physio we just added another option for those preferring a non-contact approach to traditional physiotherapy appointments. This enables you to enjoy physio sessions from the comfort of your living room. Telehealth has been shown to be as effective as face to face care. Get in touch with Scott directly (0451037330) if this sounds like something youd like to explore. Stay safe everyone and look after each other.

06.01.2022 Happy to be able to help the West Australian Newspaper with a great article in todays edition about the new and exciting area of Telehealth (Physio by Video) we have recently launched at the clinic. https://thewest.com.au//switch-on-to-better-health-ng-b881

05.01.2022 A great piece on the ABC last night about the treatment options for back pain. Physio and spinal surgery were focused on ... Have a watch and get in touch with your thoughts. https://www.abc.net.au//could-the-billions-of-do/12293880

05.01.2022 Happy Easter from Whole Health Physio

04.01.2022 A great myth busting post put up by the APA. Back pain incidence does not simply just go up with age. In fact some studies have shown a slight decrease in prevalence in the years after 60. Good news for those 59 year olds with back pain Exercise prescription as an intervention has been shown to help at all ages, whether young or old, or somewhere in between.

03.01.2022 Looking forward to doing the 2 day Optimise Rehab course this weekend. Sat and Sun learning about advanced Strength and Conditioning for field sports

02.01.2022 It was great to be able to spread the word in todays West Australian about the new option of telehealth that many physios are providing as a result of the corona virus. Hopefully this article will normalise it (telehealth) somewhat to the general public and enable the physio profession to ramp up the provision of high value care through video link. Images of some of the text included as many people viewing this mornings post couldnt open the link to the article as they are not subscribers.
