25.01.2022 Being an eternal optimist is something I prided myself on in my twenties. But with the passing of a decade and now well into my thirties I feel a little wiser and more of a realist. A little less ‘rose-coloured glasses’ Lizzy. Particularly this year I’ve noticed my mind easily slipping to dark places. There’s a lot going on in the world. And then... I remember that we need the shadow and the light. The contrast. We need to feel and sometimes touch and experience what we don’...t want, in order to know what we do want. And the way forward and through, is with one small ingredient, an essential element to all life on Earth. There has to be hope. Hope that we’ll get through this. Hope that there will be healing, for individuals, for societies, for the planet. Ways I’m keeping my vibe up lately - not to bury the darkness, but to shine as much light on it as possible: - Daily meditation at dawn - Growing things, all kinds of things, to eat and nourish our bodies - Play and lightness - Saying no to media and politics that gets my heart rate / cortisol up. Ingesting bite-sized pieces (reading headlines) or second hand news instead - Watching comedy shows at night with hubby - Simple self-care - Daily walks and stretching - Reading inspirational literature, research and educating myself on my favourite topics (almost always health related) - Playing music - relearning piano - Creativity - relearning knitting, journaling There is no perfection here. It’s messy, life is messy. But onwards and upwards. Perhaps there’s still room for optimism. My favourite motto lately. ‘See the darkness, throw light at it.’

17.01.2022 ‘Wow’ said the lady behind me in the shop today. ‘That is the healthiest trolley I have ever seen.’ ‘Thank you’, I said. ‘I’ll take that as a compliment.’... ‘Please don’t look at my trolley’ she said. ‘Oh I never would’ I said with a gentle smile. ‘I don’t judge. We all have our own journey to travel and are free to choose!’ And I did not say this in the shop but the truth is... I will help you, if you ask me to. Because I’m here to serve and support. BUT only if you ask me outright, for advice, and if you give consent to receive my help. I will never judge you. And I will not question you. BUT if you ask me to take you by the hand and dive deep with you, to look at what ails you, and what could heal you... this I will gladly do. A wise woman taught me not to give unsolicited advice - ever. It’s a sure road to burnout. I understand that intimately... and learned the hard way many years ago. And why the flower picture? I bought them for myself today. Giving flowers to others is one of my greatest joys (and favourite random acts of kindness) and today... I extended that kindness to myself. #selfcare #youarewhatyoueat #naturopath #healthyfood
