25.01.2022 WHY YOU WANT TO BE A FAT BURNER, NOT A SUGAR BURNER.... After a few of my recent posts about stategies for transitioning your metabolism away from being a sugar... burner over to a fat burner, I had a few people ask me the same question. They asked "I do eat a fair amount of starchy carbs, but at the same meal, I am also eating protein and fat. Why am I just burning sugar and storing fat?" So lets assume that you are following the current dietary recommendations that tell you to eat more than half of your daily calories in the form of carbohydrate. You may make a sandwhich with 2 slices of whole grain bread with some meat and cheese (fat and protein). From the moment the bread enters your mouth, it begins to be broken down into simple sugar. Your body can only store a small amount of sugar at a time in the form of glycogen, which is stored in muscle and liver. What happens to the rest? What's not stored as glycogen is burned off as quickly as possible, forcing you to burn sugar, but your cells can only burn so much off at a time. What happens to the rest of the sugar that isn't being stored or burned? It is converted into body fat, which is stored in all the places you don't want it: your hips, thighs, abdomen and maybe the backs of your upper arms. Your cells are busily burning off sugar for fuel, but what about protein and fat in your meal? Some of the protein is taken up by your cells for repair and maintenance, but your cells can only utilize a small amount of protein at a time. Excess protein is turned into sugar and stored as body fat. Your cells don't need to burn it for fuel--they are still burning off all the sugar from the bread on your sandwhich. That leaves just the fat from the meat and cheese. Now your cells are hardwired to burn sugar first, so if your cells are burning off lots of sugar, the fat in your meal is going to stored away as....more fat after some of it is used for stucture and hormone production. Your cells can get accustomed to burning a particular fuel. When you are younger, your metabolism is more flexible, and you can switch fuels more easily. As you get older, if your cells are used to burning sugar, they will continue to burn sugar. not fat, when they need fuel. You will need to burn almost every gram of sugar that you've eaten before you can burn off significant amounts of fat. See more

17.01.2022 Chocolate Casein Filled Protein Twinkies Ingredients: blended together and cooked at 170 degrees celcius for twenty minutes: 170g of cooked sweet potato... 85g of Total 0% Greek Yogurt 10g of psyllium husks 155g of liquid egg whites 22g of cocoa powder 67g of chocolate protein powder 1/2tsp cream of tartar 1/2tsp baking soda I baked the mixture in these little mini-cake moulds for about 20 minutes at 170 degrees celsius. Took them out and let them cool. Filling - 20g of vanilla casein protein and mixed it with coconut milk (from a carton not a tin). Mix the casein/milk until a sort of paste was formed and put it inside a plastic bag before cutting the corner of the bag off. With a chopstick make a hole on the side of each cake and proceeded to squeeze the bag so the casein fills the hole (as you can see in the pictures). That's it!!! Macros per one out of seven Casein Filled Protein Twinkies: 90kcals 11.7g protein 5.8g carbo 2g fat 3.4g fiber
