20.01.2022 Added a picture on the sanatorium history page http://whp.altervista.org/sanatorium.php

20.01.2022 Andrew Allen has generously offered the use of his professional quality insect photos on the whp website. It will take some time to incorporate them but in the meantime you can see them at: https://www.flickr.com//148646732/albums/72157679140974002

17.01.2022 There are new insect photos on whp.altervista.org and many more on natureshare.org. Here is one of an unidentified beetle on a Wedge-leaf Hop-bush .

16.01.2022 For those who have not seen it, the photo is a road-killed Tuan (Brush tailed phascogale) found on Oaklands Road just north of the park earlier this year. Last recorded sighting of this species in the area was 1866. I hope this is not the last of its kind, but the odds are against this species with hundreds of new houses being built in Greenvale every year, and hence hundreds of new cats. Not to mention the insane traffic.

15.01.2022 http://whp.altervista.org/insects/owlfly.php (click for full photo as facebook has cropped it) Saw this bizarre critter earlier this year on one of the red gum saplings planted in Twin Dams paddock. Must be a fairly uncommon species since I can't find any other sightings or photos on the web.

11.01.2022 The ceiling of the chapel at the former greenvale sanatorium. Built on the roof of the percy everett building in 1971. The photo of the percy everett building at http://whp.altervista.org/sanatorium.php was taken later when the chapel had already lost its cladding.

10.01.2022 Someone sent me a message about six months ago asking me to share her blog post about geocaching. (Hint - if you want me to read your message in less than six months use the contact page on the website!) Anyway it seems Parks Vic do not have a policy on geocaching but they would do well to adopt the NSW one. There used to be a cache near Providence Road consisting of a buried pipe with a fake rock on the top. Apart from digging holes being a no-no, people use to turn over random rocks in the vicinity and not put them back. https://www.environment.nsw.gov.au//park-polici/geocaching

07.01.2022 Just found this very small Grey Parrot Pea. Makes a total of two of these shrubs in the park.

07.01.2022 In case you missed it - Providence Road runs through the park and we have been trying to close it for 40 years. At least the criminals would have further to walk then. More reasons on the web page.

06.01.2022 Pacifica Azolla, a floating aquatic plant covering Cumberland dam at the moment.

05.01.2022 If anyone has an interest in insects you can see at the park I suggest following this page on natureshare: http://natureshare.org.au/collecti/585e00cded2a89748000ace8

03.01.2022 I have added a bunch of beetle, bug and wasp photos from last summer and earlier. (Most have previously been on natureshare). Here is the best IMHO: http://whp.altervista.org/insec/sericopimpla-australis.php

01.01.2022 The number of insects photos got too big for one page so now beetles have a page of their own, with 29 species so far: http://whp.altervista.org/inse/paropsisterna-fastidiosa.php
