21.01.2022 Many young women experience menstrual symptoms. Almost three quarters report regular period pain, around half report fatigue, and more than one third report emotional changes such as mood swings. Studies show these menstrual symptoms can cause women to miss work or school and some previous studies in teenagers show it may potentially impact academic performance. Dr Yasmin Tan is an adolescent gynaecolgist at WHRIA's Bathurst St, Sydney rooms, see your GP for a referral. ##periodpains #pelvicpain #cramps #moody https://theconversation.com/3-out-of-10-girls-skip-class-be

20.01.2022 This is a really great article on #endo The WHRIA team specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of endo including specialist ultrasound for deep infiltrating endo, pelvic floor physiotherapy, osteopathy, pain education to reduce pain using non-invasive methods such as hypnotherapy, as well as traditional pain management with our dual-qualified pain physician/gynaecologists EndoActive Australia & NZ ENDometriosis Endometriosis UK Steps to take if you think you have endometri...osis: 1. Know the many and varied symptoms of endometriosis. Period pain that cannot be relieved by over-the-counter anti-inflammatories such as naprogesic is not normal. Nor is painful sex 2. Document your menstrual cycle and symptoms several apps are available, but a diary also works 3. Ask your GP for a referral to a specialist endometriosis gynaecologist 4. If a pelvic ultrasound is needed, ensure it is done by a sonographer who specialises in detecting deep infiltrating endometriosis 5. If your concerns are not addressed, seek a second (or third) opinion. https://theconversation.com/1-in-10-women-are-affected-by-e

19.01.2022 NSW Health has announced the use of masks for health professionals who provide care in close contact (<1.5m) in hospital and community settings. If you are attending a practice, including WHRIA please wear your mask to your appointment. Watch the quick video on how to wear a surgical mask correctly from the WHO. Fabric masks are ideal for people to wear in public and help reduce the overuse of surgical masks. Victorias Swinburne University of Technology dean of Health Science Bruce Thompson says that the same rules as for undies should apply - have many and/or wash often. Carry a resealable plastic bag with you if your mask is not dirty or wet and you plan to reuse it. https://youtu.be/adB8RW4I3o4
