04.01.2022 WHSPA Weekly Moment (Faculty: Visual Arts) Meet Year 10 Visual Arts Graduating Collective Class! On Friday 27th July, the Year 10 Art Collective Class held th...e opening night of their graduation exhibition. This exhibition is the culmination of four years of hard work with a dedicated focus on visual creativity and design. Students were able to showcase the artworks they have produced from Year 7 to 10 as part of the Collective program, as well as works they created in their own time. It was an opportunity for students to curate and host a large-scale exhibition in an established community gallery. The Visual Arts Collective is part of WHSPA’s auditioned Gifted and Talented Students Program. Throughout the four year course, Collective members are offered extension workshops in all forms of Visual Arts media including drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, photography, graphic design and printmaking. Their studio practice is reinforced with intensive art history and theory lessons, an annual photography prize and a short film night. Friday night’s opening was a great success, and well attended by WHSPA staff, students, families and friends celebrating the outstanding efforts and artworks of these young artists. We would like to thank all those who attended and showed their support for the Collective students and their achievements. The Year 10 Visual Arts Collective Class exhibition is currently on at Project Contemporary Artspace, Keira Street, Wollongong from 25th July 5th August.
