21.01.2022 Over the coming weeks, selected students will be participating in three virtual workshops with the Sydney Dance Company. These sessions are ran by teaching artists who deliver engaging and curriculum-focused dance content. Creative tasks, brainstorming activities and video excerpts are used to help support student understanding of choreography, appreciation and performance of dance. Learning Hip-Hop techniques and choreography on Wednesday was challenging but lots of fun!

10.01.2022 One of the goals in the WHS School Improvement Plan is to increase reading engagement. This has been at the core of all that we do in 2020. You can imagine how proud teachers were when analysing PAT testing results in Reading. One of the Department of Education’s Key Values is Growth. In a year that has been like no other, it could be explained if students’ learning may have been inhibited. This is not what our results are showing. Post COVID, we altered our Year 7 program an...d changed our class structure. It has proven to be a huge success. A major highlight to be celebrated is one student who has gained four years of reading growth in ten months. Numerous Grade 7 students have achieved at a Year 10 standard. Our response is to develop and refine our extension programs as we are seeing a significant number of students improving as a result of our work. Well done to staff and students for making academic excellence a priority at Wynyard High School. Intensive coaching in Literacy has proven to work! See more
