20.01.2022 Do we ever consider the importance of Continuous Professional Development with parenting? 18.01.2022 Some weekend reading for you to perhaps consider how much energy you have at the end of the day for parenting... The recent Parents At Work survey suggested not much, so here is a little look at why it is important to consider how parenting changes and to consider what is draining our fuel during the day. Are we compartmentalising work and home? Do we place more importance on one over the other? Can we role model a more empowering way to work so we do not leave the dregs of our energy for when we get home? https://www.whybeyou.com.au/blog/space-for-parenting
18.01.2022 Celebrate International Talk Like a Pirate Day by bringing more playfulness in to your parenting. Go on ... have some fun! ... a short read article confirming the benefits of being playful. https://www.whybeyou.com.au/the-basics #InternationalTalkLikeAPirateDay
18.01.2022 The latest The Basics blog post is up and it asks busy parents a very important question: Is short-term respite from behaviour worth it over the long-term gain of taking time to understand why the expression or behaviour is there? A must not miss! Check it out... #parentingteens #behaviourchange #bethechange See more
18.01.2022 This is a must listen when it comes to hearing from an adult how children and teenagers know so much more than they might be communicating verbally. Great opportunities for discussion I suspect.
17.01.2022 An offering from a young woman who knew that she had to speak up, even though it pushed a few buttons.

15.01.2022 The most pernicious bully there is, is the bully in our head. Is it possible that the voice has been there so long that it has become a whisper? This article brings a big torch to the topic of how we speak to ourselves and the impact that has on how we feel about ourselves and therefore how we will accept others speaking to us and us speaking to others.

15.01.2022 Time to listen when it comes to finishing High School - some do it earlier than others, all of them know why. Listen to some amazing young people share their experiences. These audios would be great for young people, parents and grandparents alike. The more we can see that this is their experience, the more we can hear what is being called for by them. #parentingteens #finishingschool #bethechange #youthvoice
14.01.2022 How do we discuss the menstrual cycle and periods with our children? Do we make it out to be a nightmare and something to be avoided or put up with? A time when we all tip-toe around the house to not upset the woman who is clearly pre-menstrual or having a painful time, full of resentment that they can get away with it? Lets be honest we may have had a turbulent relationship with our monthly cycles, therefore what are we passing on to the next generation? Or do we understand the communication that is happening throughout the month that results in a flow? This interview with Sara Harris from Living Stillness and founder of Follow your Flow is a MUST for parents. Imagine if our children had this understanding from young, both boys and girls....

05.01.2022 We all are aware of bullying, and there is a lot of literature and information around it. Our 'Up Close and Personal with Bullying' series https://www.whybeyou.com.au/the-basics shines different perspectives on what is going on behind the scenes; perspectives which can empower parents to know that at their finger-tips in their practical day-to-day living and interactions, they are able to raise their children with confidence and equipped with the skills to nip bullying in the bud #justsayno #bullying #parentingtips #whybeyou #bethechange
04.01.2022 There is so much to consider in this report but how interesting that although so many say that devices have affected their relationships they do not feel it is their screen use that is the problem... #parenting

02.01.2022 So often we bemoan behaviour in the classroom but you can see from this small video how simple things like making a connection before they going into the classroom can have an impact on their relationships with each other, there is then more respect for each other in the classroom. I cant help wondering if this would then lead to more peer support for work and perhaps more support therefore for the teacher to not have to be all things to all people. FAB FRIDAY TIP We can fo...ster this in our homes as well. Saying hello to each other, looking each other in the eyes when we do it...try it...I suspect you may be a little surprised at how easy it is to not look at each other - particularly in the eyes and then miss vital non verbal cues about how someone is feeling. No moaning from the kids as mum or dad tries yet another "new parenting style AGAIN!"
02.01.2022 A little bit of magic on a Public Holiday - Parenting Teens group at Gordon Library Meeting Room 2 at 7pm tonight. Investment $15 paid at the event. Only 3 sessions left to the end of term. Parenting Teens can be the greatest growth we have as adults and lay the most important foundations for the young people in our care.
02.01.2022 Have you considered how important it is to get a good nights sleep? Before we were all in the land of viruses, realising just how tired we have allowed ourselves to get and then realising that compromising our sleep compromises our immune system, I interviewed Lisa Maltman from #thesleepconnection. You never know, perhaps some of the physical and emotional challenges we have are down to not enough quality sleep..... #Sleep #HealthyRoutines https://www.whybeyou.com.au/practic/the-importance-of-sleep
01.01.2022 Are you interested in an online parenting program? One is on its way ... watch this space and please share if you know someone who may be interested... #parenting #Lovingteens
