16.01.2022 Craven Mill upgrade to CNC 2019 Subcontracted to CNC Machining to upgrade the Craven mill at Liberty GFG in the Central Engineering workshop. The Craven Mill is a Russian made machine in 1939. Working with CNC Machining engineers the task involved removing motors, gearboxes, drive shafts, lead screws and electrical equipment and replace with a Ball Screw, new motors and couplings, bearing housings & scales.... A challenging project which encountered numerous challenges due to engineers not being able to access the full requirement of scope for the upgrade. Many of the components that were predesigned and manufactured had to be modified or redesigned and fabricated and machined again. The Project from the removal stage to the commissioning of the plant took over 5 months to complete. Graeme Linsdell the lead Electrical Engineer from CNC machining was there with Troy Staple from Whyalla Hose & Fittings from start to finish. See more

10.01.2022 GMUSG charity auctions raised $8,400 which was split over various charity’s, one being Whyalla Special Education Centre which was sponsored by Whyalla Hose and Fittings, CBCH / Max Cranes. A total of $1300 was donated to the school which purchased I Pads to enable students to communicate easier with others and also use for activities to practice spelling, math, writing and art. Thank you to the students for the lovely card.
