25.01.2022 NYE FIREWORKS: Be sure to head down to the foreshore tomorrow (New Year's Eve) as we farewell 2020 with a bang! Sideshow alley will be on throughout the day from 12pm, followed by a fireworks spectacular at the marina from 9pm. Pick a vantage spot anywhere along the foreshore, or view them from up close at the stunning new jetty. NOTE: Only 2000 people will be allowed in the jetty area 'event space' due to COVID restrictions.... No tickets required - enjoy the fireworks for free!

22.01.2022 REMINDER: As per yesterday's post, Christmas decorations will be going up along the main street throughout today. To allow the workers a safe space to install the decorations, the road will be down to a single lane between 7am-4pm. Please be patient and drive slowly during this period as we all start getting in the festive spirit!

21.01.2022 NYE UPDATE: A reminder of today's New Year's Eve events at the Whyalla Foreshore. Sideshow alley will be on throughout the day from 12pm, followed by a fireworks spectacular at the marina from 9pm. Pick a vantage spot anywhere along the foreshore, or view them from up close at the stunning new jetty. NOTE: Due to COVID restrictions, only 2000 people will be allowed in the 'event space' on / adjacent the jetty area. No tickets required - enjoy the fireworks for free! The Caravan Sounds event in Ada Ryan Gardens is now SOLD OUT. Residents without a ticket can still enjoy the event from the gardens, however they won't be able to enter the event space.

20.01.2022 MORE TIX: Due to popular demand, more tickets have been released for the New Year's Eve Caravan Sounds event in Ada Ryan Gardens - click the image below to buy tickets and for more info. You can still enjoy the event from the gardens without a ticket, but you won't be able to enter the event space. Also a reminder the fireworks spectacular at the marina at 9pm is FREE and does not require a ticket.

17.01.2022 GREAT RESPONSE: It has been just over a week since we launched the Whyalla Digital Christmas Pageant and it has been a resounding success receiving lots of positive feedback. With a special edition the Christmas Carols happening tomorrow night (visit www.whyallacarols.com to watch from 7.30pm) now is good time to watch the pageant again or even for the first time if you haven't seen it yet! 13.01.2022 HARD WORK PRAISED: Whyalla City Council staff have been hard at work ensuring Memorial Oval is in peak form for the commencement of the local cricket season. As part of an ongoing program of proactive maintenance and improvement, Council’s Open Spaces Oval team have recently invested a significant amount of time and effort in preparing the turf wicket at Memorial Oval. 11.01.2022 NAIDOC WEEK 2020: Formerly known as Black Screen, Nunga Screen features an entertaining program of independent films for all ages from emerging to the more established film-makers. Inspiring docos, compelling dramas, quirky animation, contemporary to traditional storytelling this film event is dedicated to bringing communities together to share in culture. Taking place in NAIDOC Week this year, this free event will showcase 13 films across regional South Australia, from town halls, to cinemas to drive-ins. 07.01.2022 NEARLY HERE: Santa’s on his way, with the big man in the red suit due to appear ‘live’ in your loungeroom this weekend.That’s because this year, for the first time ever, the Whyalla Christmas Pageant is going digital.As the annual Christmas pageant street parade isn’t possible under current covid-19 restrictions, Whyalla City Council and pageant organisers Apex put their heads together to work through ways to bring Christmas cheer to the community. 02.01.2022 REMEMBRANCE DAY: Just a reminder for everyone to stop and remember those fallen soldiers, past service people and those still defending our country. The service will mark 102 years since the end of World War I. It will start 10:45am at the Memorial Oval gates on the corner of Bradford and Wileman Street. The minute's silence will be held at 11am to mark the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.
