22.01.2022 Want 5 tips for healthy gorgeous skin? When it comes to helping your skin from the inside out, stock your pantry and fridge with whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables, and lean meats. Staying well hydrated has many benefits benefits, including helping you maintain glowing, healthy-looking skin. Skin is the largest organ of the body, and water helps to moisturise your skin internally to support the formation of new cells and help discard old ones. This adds up to impro...ved skin tone and texture. How many times have you have gotten out of bed to find puffy circles, or bags, under your eyes? Chances are you didn’t sleep well. Your body needs uninterrupted sleep to go through its natural repair process. This includes producing new collagen and improving circulation, which can help reduce under-eye puffiness. Sun damage is one of the easiest skin issues to tackle. It’s recommended to put sunscreen on any exposed skin, every day and in every seasoneven if it’s cloudy, rainy, or cold. And it’s extremely important, too. Getting too much sun can not only lead to early wrinkles and age spots, it also makes you more susceptible to skin cancer. Make sure to use a sunscreen that’s made with natural ingredients or is paraben free. Show your skin some love and use a quality range of skincare. It doesn’t need to be complicated, nor eye wateringly expensive. It does need to be effective at counterbalancing sun damage, come with anti-ageing benefits, nourish your skin and improve skin tone, and strengthen your skin’s own protective barriers. And it needs to do all of this without adding anything in that will compromise your hormones! If you’ve been thinking about finding something more natural, more effective to keep your gorgeous glow, let’s talk. Having a ritual around caring for yourself is vital, I’d love to show you how!

20.01.2022 Is is something that comes with age or are some people just born with it? It's taken me a while to understand that nothing, and I mean nothing, is ever perfect. Nature herself is constantly evolving, fixing whoopsies and figuring out how to do things better, so why should we be any different? And why do we need to apologise for not getting things right, esp the first time we try something? Short answer is, we don't. Rather than go down the "why didn't you do this the right wa...y" try "I'm so happy you gave it a go, what did you learn and how do you think you could do this differently?" There was a time when I had my "perfect" armour up. By that I mean I had a full face of makeup, tailored suit, stockings, high heels, and attitude that nothing was going to get through my beautifully constructed facade! Yeah, well, things were fine on the outside but underneath my body was saying "nope, this isn't working, you need to get real honey . . . Oh really? You're not listening, well then let's see how you deal with IBS . . ." I think you get the point. The reason behind the facade was stressful, dressing well wasn't. My goal now is to be perfectly imperfect aka myself! #beingmyself #unapologeticallyme #justbeyou #donthide #whysettleforordinary #boundaries #selfcarefirst #iinhealthcoach

18.01.2022 Top tip #2 in my tips to get you through the festive season. I think this is one we can all relate to. Leave time to relax, to enjoy the moment, to enjoy what’s really important at this time. Yes, we all like the house to be tidy, the decorations just so, the presents all done and wrapped, the food all sorted and prepared. I get it, I really do. ... Take a breath! Your guests are coming to see YOU, family and friends are there to be with you. You’re not getting marked on anything, you don’t have to prove anything to anyone, and if something doesn’t get done, is it really important in the big scheme of things? I’ve learned to let go of a lot of things that used to drive me until late on Christmas Eve, and on Christmas Day, so that I’d collapse in a heap in the evening and I’d have missed all the enjoyment, fun and joy because I was stressing so much. I was worried about making things perfect for everyone . . . Except myself!! So, relax, enjoy the moment, enjoy spending time with people who are important in your life, and everything else will fall into place
17.01.2022 I am learning to be unapologetically me. I might have taken longer than some, I don't care. I am accepting who I am and all my flaws, wrinkles, wobbly bits, scars, grey hairs, vitiligo skin, lumps, bumps and oddities. All of these things are part of the whole of me, and make me who I am. They are part of what I bring to my coaching, and everything I do. I am a work in progress, and it's exciting.... How about you? Are you comfortable in your own skin? If not, what's stopping you?

14.01.2022 Breaking up with sugar part 4 - be aware of what you’re putting into your shopping basket! Learn the label lingo. The food label doesn’t differentiate between added and natural sugars (yet), instead it lumps them all together. To get natural sugar sources check theingredient list to know if there are any added sugars in the product. Sugar lurks behind these words in the ingredient list: molasses, organic cane sugar, fruit juice concentrate, malt sugar, corn syrup, honey, sy...rup, and words ending in ose dextrose, lactose, maltose, fructose, glucose, sucrose. Compare products. Looking for the lowest sugar foods? Check the nutrition label to see which product is lowest in sugar. Don’t be fooled by low sugar or diet foods as they are often packed with artificial sugars, which is a discussion for another day. Bottom line: eat real natural convenience foods lowest in added sugar. Track it! Logging your food in a journal or diary can help with staying on top of your sugar intake and goals so that you become aware of how much sugar you are really ingesting since they can sure add up fast. Starting to feel like the relationship is a big one sided? That you’re losing out to sugar? If you would like to break up with sugar but don’t know where to start, send me a PM and let’s schedule a time to chat!

11.01.2022 I was inspired by my friend and fellow health coach @gut_feelings_with_lozzy to do this post after reading hers When you’re not able to eat the same as other people in your household, for whatever reason, it can be frustrating, irritating and downright unfair! At least, that’s how it can feel, especially if it’s food you love. It might be because you’re GF and they’re not, it might be you’re in an elimination diet and they’re not, it might be because you’re working on gett...ing back in touch with your body’s signals, and they don’t need to Rather than use that energy on negative emotions that frankly won’t get you anywhere, turn it into figuring out an alternative that you CAN enjoy. My 6’5 man-child is a non stop eating machine, he has hollow legs!! I was constantly making muffins for him, which my husband would also dive into. I’d be left without anything, and sometimes it’s nice to have a bite with your cuppa. So I’ve set myself the task of figuring how how to make a healthy alternative for me, something that’s GF, low in sugar and dairy, that I can enjoy when the boys have theirs. I sometimes get interesting results, but I have fun doing it, and sometimes the boys can’t tell the difference . . . which leads to a whole other set of issues How can you turn it around so that life is more enjoyable for YOU?
10.01.2022 Getting my good gut health on this morning with a gorgeous green smoothie! AND adding in my favourite probiotic to give my digestive system a boost of beneficial healthy strains. Why is it so important to look after your gut? ... Your gut bacteria : Serve as the gatekeepers for your digestive system; Help you digest food; Protect you against pathogens; They create essential building blocks, including neurotransmitters like serotonin and GABA! Your gut bacteria can change quickly depending on what food you eat! All of that sugar and processed food is going to lead to a less diverse group of bacteria running the show, and will impact how you feel, your weight, insulin resistance, inflammation and your levels of hunger. The more diverse your bacteria, the healthier you are! This morning’s smoothie comes to you with my favourite summer fruit, pineapple, as well as fresh mint from the garden, fresh spinach, avocado, frozen banana, coconut water and my favourite protein powder. What are you doing to help your gut this morning?

04.01.2022 Top tip #1 Have you ever wondered why you’re encouraged to take a deep breath when you’re overwhelmed? It’s because stress and anxiety relief begins with breathing. And let's face it, this year has had its fair share of stress inducing situations, and now it's Christmas! According to the Mayo Clinic and Harvard Health Publications, 20 or so minutes of deep, focused abdominal breathing can be used to help leave your body relaxed, calm, and focused. Whether it’s part of a yoga... practice, guided meditation, or just taking five minutes a few times a day to close your eyes, breath, and slow down your mind, controlled breathing can help you achieve stress relief. So if the thought of Christmas get togethers with Auntie Flo is driving you crazy, you've got an action plan, just take a few deep breaths!
03.01.2022 Top tip #3 Okay, so there's going to be more food on the Christmas table than you've seen all year, however . . . believe it or not, you don't have to eat it all!!! Have a plan going into the big meal, whatever that is for you. That plan could be to do a fast beforehand, so if your big meal is at lunchtime then fast from dinner the night before. ... Going for a walk after your big meal is also a great way to help your digestion along, as well as burn up some of the glucose that's now running around your system. Something else is to make sure that you have protein and healthy fats, as well as carbs, with every meal. In other words, don't just eat carbs on their own!!! Finally, leave the judgement, the guilt, the shaming, the negativity, the pissy inner voice that never shuts up and loves to make you feel bad . . . leave ALL of that behind. It's one day people. Enjoy it!! #christmas2020 #stressless #digestion #goforawalk #loveyourself #selfcare #toptips #whysettleforordinary #iinhealthcoach
03.01.2022 A ritual is a ceremony or action performed in a certain way, and means different things to different people. Different communities have different ritual practices, like meditation in Buddhism, or baptism in Christianity.Maybe your family has a ritual around pizzas and family movie night, or around Christmas or birthdays. A ritual can also be a practice that we habitually do, and I think one of the best rituals to practice is the one of caring for yourself! This can take ma...ny forms, but at it’s simplest it can be eating in a way that nourishes your body, moving in a way that works for you and your body responds to, making sure that you’re drinking enough water, and practicing self love in the way that you speak to yourself. Take time out to think about whether you have any rituals when it comes to your self care, do you practice them every day or just now and then
