24.01.2022 I'm constantly on the lookout for interesting bits-and-pieces to share with everyone. Here is one I found on the BBC's "Food" website. It is a fun and short 8 question quiz about food and diet fads through the ages. From weight loss pills in the 1800's to the "Chewing Diet" in the 1900's. Don't worry, it doesn't ask for your email address, your grand mother's maiden name or to share your results on Facebook. ... 21.01.2022 Totally useless, but fun stuff to know. During the Covid-19 lock down, the Dorchester Hotel in London has introduced take-away hampers of its famous Afternoon Teas. The Afternoon Tea hamper costs 60 per person (that's about AUD$125 and you have to order for a minimum of two people). Think decadent cakes, cute scones, petite sandwiches and a mini bottle of Veuve Cliquot champagne. Plus, the hotel is providing streamed performances by one of its regular pianists for you to listen to while you eat. Unfortunately this service is only available in London.

18.01.2022 This week I've been seriously catching up on a selection of good ole home-style slices from around the world. From American chocolate brownies, Toscana slice (almonds & honey) from Italy, date and lemon from England or Jamaican salsa slice from the Cayman Islands to CWA condensed milk, chocolate & cherries combo they all have 1 thing in common. They are all DELICIOUS. Which one to choose?

14.01.2022 I always wish that my customers can put their feet up and relax with a good cup of tea and a slice of my cake. But which tea to have? I know - it’s a dilemma. There are literally hundreds of teas out there. So for the tea lovers and slightly adventurous, I’ve collected some suggestions for that perfect tea and cake combination thanks to the help of several tea bloggers. Japanese green teas, like Gyokuro, are great with dark chocolate because of the salt and chocolate combinat...ion. Lightly oxidized oolongs, like Orchid Oolong, also work well with dark chocolate. Jasmine Pearls, (also known as Buddha’s Tears) a floral Chinese green tea, is also great with dark chocolate. Earl Grey tastes delicious with dark chocolate but really stands out with citrus desserts, lemon cookies or cakes. Kyoto, (a premium Gyokuro green tea), or ceremonial matcha, pair well with crusty citrus desserts, like lemon meringue and key lime pie. A Dragon Well tea (also known as ‘Longjing’) or an Assam black tea will make that milk chocolate mousse or New York Style Cheesecake really sing.
