Overview: NAIDOC Week 2020 acknowledges and celebrates that our nation’s story didn’t begin with documented European contact whether in 1770 or 1606 - with the arrival of the Dutch on the western coast of the Cape York Peninsula. This competition is a chance for talented artists aged 13 years and older to be recognised across Australia in celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and achievements. 16.01.2022 We are not presetly taking donations.... DUMPING is not appreciated. There are other organizations that can take your donations so please make contact with us rather than dump. Our volunteers do NOT appreciate this at all, as often the bags will be raided, items thrown around the street and this actually creates more work. We love our town and want to help as many people as we can, so please do the same in return.... Have a great day! See more

11.01.2022 GIVIT CHARITY HAS NEW FIRST NATION AMBASSADOR The Pilbara is no stranger to what the charity GIVIT - Goods For Good Causes provides when in 2017, Yindjibarndi ...artist Wendy Warrie from the Cheeditha community received furniture, beds and household goods from them. Ms Warrie was chosen to receive the goods because of her generosity and love for local children who often knock on her door in the evening looking for a place to sleep for the night. It was a community effort with the DCP, local police, Sodexo, Jupps Carpet Court and Yurra lending a hand. Jade North, well known for being the 2016 NAIDOC sports-person of the year, a former Socceroo and a former Olympian couldn’t refuse an opportunity to become involved in GIVIT’s National Indigenous Support Program when approached by the charitable organisation recently. GIVIT is a platform that matches charitable donations with the people who need them and enables charities to request donations to meet specific needs. Mr North was appointed as Ambassador for the Indigenous Support Program this week and his role will see him visiting indigenous communities and raising awareness about how to register with GIVIT and receive support. "And the more I looked into the more I thought wow this is an amazing opportunity and what way to be able to be an ambassador you know for the National Indigenous Support Program. For me it was a no brainer," he said. "I was already in the community doing things anyway but this just, you know, with the traction that GIVIT have been getting, especially over Xmas and the good things they’ve been doing since the bush fires and all that sort of stuff, it’s a great platform to be part of something special." GIVIT was able to help transport a Pilbara family in recent years and individuals and organisations in need are urged to visit the GIVIT website and register: www.givit.org.au Naomi Warth from Wickham Community Projects is a #GIVIT contact in the Pilbara and says that she and her team are happy to list items for people and manage delivery. "We don’t’ offer any guarantees though and can only work with what is offered through the platform, this goes for both donors and those seeking items," she said. For donors, they should list their items here: http://www.givit.org.au/give-items LISTEN HERE: https://soundcloud.com//jade-north-new-ambassador-for-givi GIVIT - Goods For Good Causes http://givit.org.au/
