22.01.2022 Woohoo! New toy day! Super excited to start using this on the horses! To quote the lyrics from Roxanne (though not in the same context, see post below, sorry guys) "put on the red light"!

20.01.2022 For July, I have a little gift for the first 4 people to book massages for their lovely neddies!

19.01.2022 Welcome to the Wide Bay Equine Therapies page! Massage is the manipulation of soft tissues to enhance tissue function and promote well-being and relaxation. With the highly specialised performance and athletic work horses are now required to do, comes muscle stress, injury and fatigue. Massage is one of the oldest methods of healing and has long been used as part of human athlete training, and massage therapy for equines can hold the same physical and psychological benefits. For any questions or to make a booking, you can contact me directly on the phone number on the ‘about’ section or send the page a message.

18.01.2022 This is Saree. She is my 'go-to' horse when I'm practising new skills as she has no reservations about telling me EXACTLY how she feels about something. Currently, I'm studying photonic therapy or red light therapy. Photonic therapy, at a very basic level of explanation, uses acupoints with aims to stimulate particular physiological responses or to stimulate the bodies’ cells, promoting them to regenerate, repair and restore functionality. It is integrated easily as a comple...mentary treatment with massage, with both modalities assisting to activate the body’s natural healing processes and when used together greatly increase repair and regeneration of tissue. I look forward to being able to provide this therapy to your horses on completion of my studies later this year (covid permitting). Soon I will be seeking expressions of interest for case studies so keep an eye on the page for details! See more

17.01.2022 I'm doing a trip to Bundaberg, Saturday the 4th of July. With competitions starting up again now is the best time to support your horse's health and performance. The benefits of massage for your horse extend past just soothing sore and tired muscles, beneficial effects include increased flexibility and range of motion, improved posture and suppleness. PM the page to make an appointment or contact 0421 564 916.

16.01.2022 From now and till the end of May 2020, I have an introductory special of $60 for a massage session which includes travel within an hour of Biggenden! This price will go up so contact the page to make a booking.

13.01.2022 I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend with their horses! My next trip to Hervey Bay will be on the 17th of June, appointments can be booked via the page or on 0421 564 916. I will be doing a trip to the Sunshine Coast region in July, more details will be posted at the end of this month.

12.01.2022 This is the last week for you to take advantage of the introductory special of $60 for a massage session! Wow that month went fast! Thank-you to all the clients who have already treated their horse to a massage! Massage therapy for equines can hold the same physical and psychological benefits as it does for people such as encouraging relaxation, aid muscle healing processes, relieve pain, restore muscle function, improvement of proprioception, encourage and stimulate movemen...t of fluid in the muscles (i.e., built up fluid, toxins), promote circulation, improve flexibility and range of motion, improve posture and early detection of stress and strain, to name a few. A session includes static and dynamic (standing and movement) assessment of your horse, massage and stretches. This price also includes travel within an hour of Biggenden! For any questions or to make a booking contact the page. See more

11.01.2022 I'll be on the Sunshine Coast next week. Massage appointments available in Gympie region on Wednesday the 15th then Sunshine Coast to Caboolture on the 16th. Bookings are essential, limited spaces.

11.01.2022 This is an interesting watch if you've got a spare hour or so (because lets face it....there's a lot of "reality" dribble on tv) on the correlation of the affects the hoof, in particular hoof pastern angles, and the myofascial system have on each other.

08.01.2022 How bit pressure affects the movement of the hindlimb!!! The horses tongue attaches to the Hyoid bone (see photos) The hyoid is Intimately connected to the airw...ays and therefore affects the horses breathing, and is connected to hind limb via fascial. See below Sternohyoideus connects the hyoid to the sternum Omohyoideus connects the hyoid to the inside of the shoulder -Direct connection from the tongue to the sternum and shoulder along the bottom of the horse’s neck. Tension in the tongue tension in sternum horse can’t lift through back to allow for collection- affects hindquarters Small muscles also connect the hyoid bones to the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) and the poll. The TMJ is an important center for nerves that control the horse’s balance and proprioception. And the pollits ability to bend and flexis of central concern to the dressage rider. Because of the small muscles connecting them, there is a very close relationship (which few riders know about) between the horse’s tongue, hyoid bones, TMJ, poll, head, and neck. When the horse’s tongue is free and soft, all of this translates into a horse who is better able to move well, with coordination, improved balance, and a significantly lengthened stride.(L.Tellington- Jones 2013) L.Tellington-Jones (2013) Dressage with Mind, Body & Soul: A 21st-century Approach to the Science and Spirituality of Riding and Horse-and-rider Well-being.Trafalga Square. 05.01.2022 I'm going to take a moment to clarify what my business is about. I am an equine (horse) massage therapist. I'd have thought it was fairly obvious given my business name has the word "equine" in it, my business logo is a horse head and my photos all have horses in them but apparently not . ***** I do not massage people. *****... So if you're feeling a bit tense or sore or in need of a "relaxation" massage ( you guys know who you are, you're not kidding anyone) for yourself...then contact someone else. But if your horse feels a bit stiff on one rein, has changed disposition towards exercise or seems to have dropped off in performance, I'd love to help.

04.01.2022 Love my new shirts & hats! And the surprise mug! Thank-you AK Embroidery Art
