19.01.2022 Water Saving Ideas continued... 1. Fix a dripping tap. A dripping tap can waste 15 litres of water a day, or 5,500 litres of water a year. 2. Invest in water-efficient white goods - when you need to replace household products such as washing machines and dishwashers, look at the water rating. 3. Water your garden by hand with a watering can rather than a hose or sprinkler. A hose can use as much as 1,000 litres of water an hour. 4. Mulch your plants (with bark chippings, sug...arcane mulch etc) and watering in the early morning or late afternoon will reduce evaporation and also save water. If you have any good tips for saving water please share them with us..

06.01.2022 Saving water in your home When water levels drop and water restrictions are put in place, we all get a little nervous and start looking for ways to conserve water. Here are a few handy tips that may help around the home. 1. Shower to music - Find a song you like that lasts 3 minutes or close to it and start the song as you get in the shower, sing along if you wish, singing is good for you, then make sure you are finished and the water is turned off before the song ends. 2. Ha...ve a plastic bucket next to the shower to catch the water that is wasted as you wait for it to warm up. Use this water on your plants or in the washing machine if you have a top loader. 3. Turn of the tap when brushing your teeth. 4. Flush the toilet every second time you pee. Use the old saying - "If its yellow let in mellow, if its brown flush it down". 5. Only wash clothes when they are dirty. My kids used to put things in the wash they had only had on for 30 minutes because they couldn't be bothered putting them away. Teach them to work out if it could be worn again. More tips tomorrow...
