18.01.2022 ’ - When Dan first moved to Rutherglen, he sought out the history of barbers in the town and was told a story about a barber who once had a shop down the main street. His name was Jack O’Keefe. Jack’s shop was filled with memorabilia of everything and anything. Once you sat down in the chair, you were almost swamped by the clutter around you. ... Jack had come from a family of horse breeders in the King Valley. A small man with a big personality, Jack was very talkative, sometimes to the point that he would talk his way through a haircut you didn’t ask for! ‘Thanks Jack’, and off you went till your next visit. Dan found a photo of Jack and always said that if he opened his own shop in Rutherglen one day, he'd put the picture up on the wall. Well, the shop isn't in Rutherglen (not yet anyway) but Wang will do for now. Relatives of Jack pop into our shop from time to time and see his photo up on our wall and are delighted his memory lives on. For a man Dan didn’t know, Jack somewhat inspired him to open up shop in the North East. Located in the main street, this is another shop with a long history of barbering 37 years and the only traditional barber shop in Yarrawonga. We do love tradition at Wig Chop!... The shop name will remain the same for the next couple of months, with previous owner Simon at the helm, while we transform it into the Wig Chop brand, with an exciting interior update and rename in the new year.
