25.01.2022 The Dolphin's room had a blast engaging in a range of experiments for science week! We participated in a Milk experiment, we made lemon volcanoes and we conducted a balloon experiment! Milk Experiment The Dolphin's children were able to watch the chemical reaction that occurs in milk, between the fat and protein. We are able to see this through the use of food colouring, when the dish soap and milk combine. The reaction is shown as it is hard to join the colour's that are p...laced in the milk together. Lemon Volcano The Dolphins children were able to make a lemon volcano through the chemical reaction of the bicarb soda and lemon juice. The Dolphin's children even added soap to the lemon and bicarb soda, to allow for a foam reaction. Balloon Experiment Using a funnel, the Dolphin's children poured vinegar into a plastic bottle. Next, they inserted the funnel into the mouth of the balloon and placed Bicarb soda inside. Once there is enough bicarb soda in the balloon, we placed the balloon onto the bottle where we saw the chemical reaction unfold. As the bicarb soda and vinegar combine, the balloon slowly inflates!

19.01.2022 Hatch 'N' Grow On arrival to the centre the Seahorse children were excited to see 12 duckling eggs and one freshly hatched duckling in the incubator. As the days passed the children were full of questions 'why the ducklings come in eggs' 'how they hatch out' 'why are they taking so long to hatch' They were able to experience the slow process of the ducklings come out of the eggs, become fluffy ducklings, eat and drink and even go for a dip in the water. As the ducklings grew, the children were able to nurse and care for the new ducklings and enjoy cuddles with them.
