22.01.2022 This is Roxette. She is an 8mo bearded dragon that presented to the clinic by her loving owner for glass surfing - a behaviour that indicates stress - and a decline in appetite and energy. A physical exam identified round masses in Roxette’s abdomen and an ultrasound allowed us to identify these as active follicles on her ovaries. Typically, over the coming weeks these would continue to develop into eggs and would be laid as a clutch. However, occasionally a beardie’s ho...rmones don’t cooperate and the follicles sit unchanged for long periods. This is known as follicular stasis and can make the beardie feel ill. If they burst, it can also prove fatal. Roxette’s owners made the decision to desex her to remove these inactive follicles and Dr Kurtz undertook the procedure. Everything went very well and she is now back to her usual gluttony and feeling much happier in herself!

17.01.2022 NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) will be conducting a baiting program in many national parks using fresh meat, manufactured baits and CPE’s containing 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of wild dogs. The program will be ongoing and continuous from Tuesday 5 May 2020 to Thursday 5 November 2020. We have been advised of two dogs in the Wheelbarrow Ridge Rd, Colo Heights area who have very sadly died from these baits. Please be aware of the danger and keep your dogs away from national parks.

07.01.2022 These’s two cuties were brought into the hospital by a member of the public who found them out in the open alone with no signs of mum or a safe place to hide. They were given the all clear by Dr Poon and are in safe hands of an experienced WIRES carer.

06.01.2022 No need for panic ... just some important information for you and your pets.

03.01.2022 We had an interesting visitor to Richmond Vet Hospital yesterday. This juvenile lace monitor was presented by Sydney Wildlife after having been hit by a car. While he had a non-displaced fracture to his right lower jaw that we splinted to stabilise, he thankfully escaped further injury. ... We’ll be checking in with his carer in two weeks to see how things are healing
