23.01.2022 WILCANNIA YOUTH LEADERSHIP PROJECT What an amazing experience students from Wilcannia Central School recently had, learning about and sharing their knowledge o...f country whilst gaining skills in problem solving and communication through a range of cross curricular activities including fractions, nutrition, map reading and navigation and weather management on and off the Darling river. The four-day program engaged students in a two-day cross-country hike across Murtee station to the Darling river and a two day paddle on the river to Steamers point at Wilcannia township in the heart of the Central Darling Shire. The trip included 22 km of walking and 30 km of paddling in open kayaks. 20.01.2022 Click through to watch an incredible project in the making! Students from Wilcannia Central School have been working with Badger Bates, Anthony Hayward and D...avid Doyle on the Barkandji Canoe Project as part of the Gallery's Djamu Regional Program for Indigenous Art Education. These film stills show the artists and students carving the first river red gum canoe cut from the region in over 70 years. The final image shows a canoe tree over 80 years old, that sits just 20 metres from the site where students carved. In a few weeks, the Gallery's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art team and Senior Executive will return for the canoe's maiden voyage down the Barka stay tuned for news of the journey! 15.01.2022 Unfortunately we have had another major plumbing issue in K-12, so we will have a delayed start operating from 11am while parts arrive and repairs take place. The normal morning bus will be around at 8am to inform students and families of the delay. We will then have a bus run at 11am to pick up students. ... Preschool will operate as normal. We thank you for your understanding and apologise again- we don’t like not being able to have everyone here to start the day!

14.01.2022 This week Primary students from Wantaali and Pilyara have been working on transforming the outdoor space off the Wantaali classroom. Students had lots of fun planting seeds of their choice including, carrots, tomatoes, lettuce, beans and capsicums. Stay tuned to see the progress.

12.01.2022 Yesterday students and staff celebrated a term of learning down by the river where we caught a few fish, had a BBQ lunch and had an overall fantastic day! 03.01.2022 This week Secondary students have participated in a range of engaging learning experiences and were even lucky enough to be visited by former rugby league player Ashley Gordon. Bottom left: Year 7/8 girls Maths - this week we are focusing on applying our skills in perimeter and area using house plans. As part of the lesson, the girls were challenged to meet a house design brief for a family. Bottom right: Students have been working on developing their coffee making skills.
