02.01.2022 It’s true. We’re closed. I’m so sorry lovely heart. I was determined not to become one of those disappointing statistics, another small biz failure. But hi that’s me I closed the shop in December last year and I’ve had my head in the sand ever since #sorry Before Wild Child Posies, I so desperately wanted to be at home with the kids. It felt too soon to go back to work but hey, we’ve all got bills. I’ll just run a little flower business from home I thought. It’l...l be grand!, I told the world. And it was grand! In so many ways! ... I had the most amazing clients. Every day I was creating beautiful things..I was spreading and sharing in people’s happiness (and sadness) and ALL the human experiences in between. I was constantly showered with gratitude and the thrill I got from an early market flower haul was second to none. The only problem was, there wasn’t time between deliveries to sit and play dolls and there wasn’t time in the day to hang out the laundry... there weren’t enough arms attached to my body to prevent toddlers with ambitions to climb AND wrap bouquets at the same time... there weren’t enough eyes in my head to supervise a two year old with an interest in mums makeup AND monitor my website. There weren’t enough hours in the day. There weren’t enough hours of unbroken sleep... there was no rest. None. So, after a long, long conversation with my neglected little tribe, I switched off orders and told myself I was just taking a break. I’d focus on my family first, and re-strategise later. I took a temporary contract in a real job and waited for my ‘ah-ha’ moment. It came but strangely, it wasn’t the creative genius or entrepreneurial light bulb I was hoping for. Instead, I realised, that working for someone else when you have small children is actually freaking ahhhmazing and truly a beautiful thing! I learnt that it’s quite lovely commuting to the city, surrounded by adults, being all adulty. I quite like my hustle through Martin Place every mornning. Walking into an office where everything is as you left it. Where your colleagues can disagree with you respectfully without ever telling you you’re not invited to their birthday party. Where you eat your own lunch, not the crust off someone else’s. It’s all a bit of a treat I was burnt out and needing a break in December. I couldn’t have imagined that closing the business and going back to work would be the answer; but life’s funny like that I’m sorry it’s taken me so long to post this. It’s been a roller coaster. I’m so, so grateful to all of you and all of your unwavering support. And to all the incredible women who are at home with little people entwined in all that you do, I know it’s not easy, I salute you! So, that’s what happened.
