21.01.2022 FIGHTING TO END CHILDHOOD CANCER! It's time to make a difference. On the 21st of November, I am running an ultra marathon of portraits (7am - 8pm), with 100% of the money going to the Childrens Cancer Institute of Australia. I am aiming to raise $7,000, but I need your help. In Australia every day, 3 children are diagnosed with some form of cancer. It's so messed up. I've dealt with cancer in my family now for nearly 15 years, I know the pain cancer can bring. So with your h...elp, I want to do my bit to help find a research to spare even one family that pain! If you want to get some amazing professional images of your family for a small donation to the charity, please click the link below. All money goes direct to them, and you get some beautiful updated images of your gorgeous family, right in time for Xmas (potential gifts???). Let's all help to make a difference. Spots are limited to 38, so if you want to get on board and support the cause, do so ASAP and click the link below. If not, please, please share this post in the hope someone you know might want to get involved. https://www.wildheartsphotography.com.au/wild-hearts-child/

17.01.2022 4 GENERATIONS APART!!! Here we have my daughter (9 weeks old), meeting my grandmother (94 years old). This was such a special moment, given even I had not seen my grandmother since pre-covid (and I am used to seeing her all he time!) , my daughter had never met her. We had been talking about his for weeks on he phone, so Grandma was super excited, but also nervous to hold her. But the moment she did, my daughter just lit up, all smiles, all giggles, and the look on my ...grandmothers face was priceless, it must have made her year, her decade. These moments are so essential to capture, to have forever! #familyphotography #familyphotos #family #newcastlefamilyphotography #centralcoastfamilyphotography #centralcoastmums #newcastlemums #love #centralcoastyoga #centralcoastkids #newcastleyoga #youngfamilies #newcastlefamilyphotographer #centralcoastfamilyphotographer #centralcoastfamilies #newbornphotography #newbornphotographer #newcastlenewborns #huntervalleymums #centralcoastfamilies #newcastlefamilies #newcastlefamilyphotographer #centralcoastfamilyphotographer #newcastlemums #centralcoastmums #centralcoastfamilies See more

17.01.2022 THIS IS WHY I LOVE BEING A DAD & A HUSBAND... I've been waiting for this my entire life. I always knew I wanted to be a dad, and thankfully for me, I had a great role model (still do). But why do I love it? If I am being honest, it's because until I had a daughter, life was kind of losing it's intrigue. Everything was starting to feel a bit familiar, and a bit bland. I was happy, but definitely not excited. Now, all of a sudden, sitting on the couch, going for a walk, going to the park, it's all exciting again! Mia has brought a whole new dimension of happiness and excitement to my life, and I am so excited to see what the future brings.

06.01.2022 DO YOU HAVE 'MUM SYNDROME'? What is ‘Mum Syndrome’? Well, if you’re a mum (or a single parent I should add), this will feel all to real for you. Mum Syndrome is basically where mums, or single parents tend to miss out on being involved in everything, simple because they are busy always ‘doing’. If I look back on my childhood, my mum was never in the photos, always busy taking them. Unfortunately, this kind of sucks. When I look back on my childhood photos (I do this a lot, my... mum has hundreds of albums), there is barely any of my mum, or even with her in them. It’s sad, I wish I could have seen more of my mother when we were young, nothing against my dad (he’s a legend and he knows it). In fact, here’s a little stat I have collected from my initial enquiry forms since I started my business. I have photographed 277 families in my career. Since I started collecting this data it’s been 120 families. Guess how many put down I’m never in any photos as a reason for why they were contacting me? 50%? Maybe 60%? Surely not 75% right? 111 families stated this (in one way or another). That’s a whopping 92.5% of people contacting me are doing so because they want to be in the photos, be in the moment, not have to worry about capturing them. See more

05.01.2022 Raising money for Dementia & Alzheimer’s research! Many of you don’t know, but over undertaken a 300km in 30 days challenge to raise $1500 for this great cause. I am $150 short, so if dementia has impacted your life at all, and you would like to donate, please do so, if not sharing this might help me reach my goal

05.01.2022 HOW TO TAKE PERFECT PHOTOS OF YOUR KIDS! "LIGHTING MATTERS! This is a big one, and probably the hardest to understand. People ask me what separates a professional photographer from an amateur photographer. Sadly, it’s not gear, so no need to go buy a $20,000 camera setup. It’s understanding various lighting conditions and how they interact with subjects. Let me run through a couple of the most common lighting situations and a few quick suggestions on how to handle them, so yo...u are equipped for the most common lighting scenarios. Broad Daylight This one sucks, but it is the most common lighting situation as it covers majority of the day, so you will need to know how to shoot in this. Best practice, find some shade! This could be a tree, a building casting a shadow, anything really. If you cannot do this (maybe you’re at the beach), make sure first of all, that your kids are not looking directly into the sun, they will squint and the harsh shadows on their face will not be flattering. Again, get low, this will help to create shadows where they otherwise would not exist. Back Lighting Ahhhhh, my favourite of lighting situations. This is your sunrise/sunset styled light. It’s warm, creamy, golden, it makes everything look so inviting and beautiful. In this situation, the sun is much lower in the sky, and has further to travel to reach you, so it casts much softer light. Place the sun behind your subject (not in frame, your phone probably cannot handle this like a professional camera) out of frame, and allow that light to hit them from behind. The face will be beautifully exposed with no harsh shadows. Soft Lighting Another favourite of mine, this could either be before the sun has risen/set, or on a very overcast day (pray for these days). The basic thing here is, there is no sun in the sky. The light that remains is totally ambient, that is, it is all around you and doesn’t cast any shadows or highlights. My biggest suggestion here is to have your subject face where the sun was before it dissapeared if you are shooting at sunset. If it’s overcast, just go for gold. Honestly, you can’t get bad light on an overcast day!" See more

01.01.2022 DADS BEING DADS Don’t mind us, just a dad being a dad, entertaining the troops while mum attends to a crying baby! Nothing like a good book! What’s your kids favourite book?

01.01.2022 FIRST TIME MEETING MY UNCLE! Life is crazy right now, and every single day seems like a new 'first' for us. So I've been super busy capturing them all. It's so nice to be able to have our family up to be apart of her life, even if it is limited in these times. It's crazy how comfortable and relaxed she seems in her uncles hands :)
