24.01.2022 Graphic design was my chosen occupation. I studied in the early 90’s at Perth TAFE. It was very hands on as computers were only just starting to make an appearance. That makes me look really old but I’m not With all designing we need to pour our ideas out on paper. I start by drawing using pencil and paper. Traditionally I would then use black ink or pen to produce the graphic for scanning. Today, using modern technology I scan the pencil drawing into my iPad and trace usi...ng a digital pencil in Adobe Draw. Much simpler! This is a graphic which will be printed onto KOOKS Apparel. A funky line of clothing designed by my talented daughter Nicole. It’s great to collaborate and use other skills. By the way this is a juvenile barramundi cod. They are pure white with black spots. The cutest little fishy.
23.01.2022 NEW GREETING CARDS I am very pleased to find a box of printed greeting cards on my return home. The print quality is sensational using vegetable based inks on 100% recycled stock. Thank you #sustainableprintingco for great service and product. I have been absent from social media lately. COVID has increased property prices in the Perth hills and we have decided to try and sell ours. In three weeks we managed to clear out a massive shed, art studio and house, weed the garden...s, thoroughly clean everything and get the place looking a million dollars. We pulled it off and it’s now in the hands of our real estate agent. Now I am back in sunny #pointsamson and not looking forward to the unpack. At least my studio is ready for action. A fun little excercise in tonal study this afternoon.... Humpies are on their way back down the coast with their calf’s and it will be a few months until we get to enjoy their company in our northern waters again. It’s always such a joy seeing them frolick around the ocean

16.01.2022 Looking forward to trying out my new free diving fins. As much as I enjoy scuba diving, free diving is much less hassle. All you need is mask, weights and fins compared to BCD, tanks, regulators, dive computer and wetsuit. Then there’s the ongoing maintenance of your tanks, regs and bcd. Hanging out with younger experienced free diving crew has given me the courage to give it a go. Another way to experience the magical ocean world. This place gives me comfort and excites me at the same time. It’s far less chaotic than the world above. My happy place

12.01.2022 ‘Montebello Islands’ is part of my Pilbara Islands series. Painted in oils 120 x 60cm. Refreshing clear waters dotted with pristine coral reefs and an abundance of marine wildlife. 10.01.2022 So pleased the process went smoothly. The order was printed and shipped within 3 weeks to a destination in Germany. I have had to wait up to 6 weeks for orders within Australia
09.01.2022 The creative business is not always straight forward. I can draw and paint pretty pictures. I would love to fill your homes with it and I would like to make a living from it. ... My artwork doesn’t appeal to everyone but I know there are people out there that would really appreciate my work. This year I have signed up to a course with Michelle Lloyd from The Hub United Artspace to dig deeper into my why, what, where, who and how. I highly recommend this course if you are struggling with finding your market or focus. Where do you place yourself 1. beginner 2. hobbyist 3. aspiring 4. emerging 5. professional or 6. established?? I’m emerging out of the safety of my studio into the competitive art market. It is a huge step for an introvert like me. Artists are notorious for self criticism. Will I ever be good enough let me know if you feel the same.
