Farhad Bandesh is a Kurdish refugee who has been detained in Australia detention centre for almost 8 years, Farhad, is an instrument maker, artist-poet and singer.... He has created over 100 artworks, drawings, paintings, digital artwork and also has written more than 8 songs while in detention. 04.01.2022 Inkrewsive Hip Hop are thrilled to announce James Welsby aka @valerie_hex as our new Creative Director for the 42% Project. James Welsby is a #performer, #chore...ographer, #producer, and #director with over a decade of professional experience in #dance and #cabaret. A #VCA School of Dance 2007 graduate, James taught at @chunkymove for five years, founded his own dance company, #PhantomLimbs (winner Melbourne Festival Discovery Award 2013), and worked with a multitude of independent choreographers. He has created several full-length shows including "Hex" (Next Wave Festival 2014) and "Dancing Qweens" (Housemate Residency Dancehouse 2018). As a cabaret performer, James has worked with Taylor Mac, Finucane and Smith, and Briefs Factory. Perhaps he is most well known as the founder and artistic director of #YUMMYProductions, which is an internationally recognised #drag #cabaret company (winner Best Production and Best Ensemble @greenroomawards 2018). 03.01.2022 It's literally taken us till Wednesday to recover from #UNMUTEDFestival but can we just say it was one of the most rewarding things we've ever done - and that's saying something! Thanks to everyone at Wild At Heart Community Arts for their support and guidance through the festival, it was truly a team effort. Thank you to all the people behind the scenes and on the face of it all. To all the artists, guest artists and mentors for sharing your exceptional talent. For being b...rave enough to share your stories around your own lived experience in an open and honest way. A MASSIVE shout out to all 45 community radio stations across regional and metro Victoria for hosting our artists across Mental Health Week. Finally to our devoted audience and community members who watched, liked and shared. You made this festival into something much bigger than was intended or expected. I believe we have very much achieved our goal of "UNMUTING" the conversation around mental health.
