Shumack Dental is continuing to see new and existing patients who require urgent dental care. As directed by the Australian Dental Association, we are currently limited in the services we can provide. We are able to see patients who require urgent care. This includes: ... acute dental pain ulcerations broken teeth causing discomfort dental trauma extensive decay For those requiring treatment, please understand that for health and safety reasons, we'll be asking a few questions over the phone. Our dentists are always available to talk through your options should you have any concerns. In the mean time, stay safe, and stay home as much as you are able

08.01.2022 DRY MOUTH & SUGAR FREE GUM Did you know in 1992 the Singaporean government placed a ban on chewing gum due to prolific ‘gum littering’’?! An offence punishable by fines or imprisonment. Offenders were even publicly named and shamed to deter other would-be gum offenders! Fortunately in 2004 the dental health benefits of chewing gum were recognised and an exception was made for the import and sale of gum for dental health reasons Tourists can now bring in two packs ...per person! Yay!! So why chew sugar free gum? Dry mouth, also know as xerostomia, is caused by a decrease in saliva production, a common side effect of many prescription medications . High blood pressure and anti depressant medications are high on the list. It can be extremely uncomfortable and have devastating effects on your oral health. If you suffer from dry mouth, chewing sugar free gum helps to stimulate the production of saliva, easing discomfort and allowing saliva to do its all important thing such as: preventing tooth decay facilitating taste breaking down foods, and protection against oral infections and gingivitis (gum disease) to name a few. by @pipes.on.food

03.01.2022 Snack attack at work Choose healthy snacks whilst at work or on the road. Aim for snacks such as nuts, cheese, green beans, veggie sticks and avocado on vita-weets. And keep a big bottle of water close by to rinse down coffee and tea. 1 Buy bulk for the week. ... 2 If possible leave it at work, in the car or in your handbag so that it’s readily available. 3 If it’s in a packet, read what’s in it! Your brain (and teeth) will thank you for it by @vansantenbolleurs
